Manchester City v Chelsea Predictions and Preview

Guardiola has a fully fit squad to choose from and has a welcome selection dilemma on his hands after Sergio Aguero’s quickfire brace in his last domestic game for the club.

Historically, the former Barcelona boss has played without an orthodox centre-forward but the Sky Blues record scorer is pushing for a starting role. 260-goal Aguero is 7/5 to bag anytime and the Champions League would be the crowing moment of his illustrious 10-year career at the Etihad.

Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and De Bruyne are expected to occupy the front three positions and the trio have an astonishing 77 goal contributions between them this campaign. The silky Algerian has made the right wing berth his own and is 13/2 to break the deadlock.

Team-mate Foden has enjoyed similar joy on the other flank and has ousted international colleague Raheem Sterling from the starting eleven. The Stockport native is 11/2 in the same market and has been tipped to shine for England at Euro 2020. Sterling and Gabriel Jesus are 11/5 and 12/5, respectively, to net anytime, and City are 4/9 to lift the trophy.

Elsewhere, Tuchel is sweating on the fitness of N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy. The all-action World Cup winner has got back to his very best under the ex-Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager and his condition is key to Chelsea’s chances of landing a second Champions League.

First-choice keeper Mendy has brought stability to the London outfit’s backline since moving from Rennes and is battling a rib injury sustained in the clash with Aston Villa.

Going forward, Tuchel has plenty of options at his disposal with Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and Kai Havertz in contention. Werner is 17/2 to break the deadlock and Pulisic can be found at 11/1.

Giroud will feature after the break and is 15/2 to register last, with Havertz available at 9/1. Chelsea are 7/4 to beat the Sky Blues for the third time this season.

One to watch for Manchester City: Ilkay Gündogan is in the form of his life and leads the way with 17 goals for the Premier League victors this term. The German is 11/4 to score anytime.

One to watch for Chelsea: Mason Mount is one of, if not the first name on Tuchel’s team-sheet and the local lad is an attractive 25/2 to bag first.

Long shot: Manchester City have dominated domestically over the last decade and are widely considered the standout team on the continent. The Sky Blues’ relationship with UEFA is well documented but Saturday is gearing up to be a historic night and a 3-0 win, sealing the treble in the process, is 16/1.
