Manchester United were fortunate to finish the first leg of this tie at the Wanda Metropolitano still all square. It should give them the advantage going into Tuesday’s clash. But Atlético are more than capable of going to Old Trafford and getting at least a draw.

Manchester United vs. Atlético Madrid Predictions and Preview
Although Atlético had only scored one goal after 79 minutes of the first leg in Madrid there was a feeling that Diego Simeone and his players were happy enough to take that slender lead to Old Trafford. But as dominant as the home side had been – and how listless United had performed – a late goal for the Premier League side from Swedish striker Anthony Elanga now sets up this meeting in a whole different light.
Apparently Elanga had been on the way out of the club on loan before Ralf Rangnick played him against Crystal Palace. Now he looks like one of the interim manager’s favourite players and certainly a consolation for a misfiring Ronaldo.
Atlético will still fancy their chances of coming away from Manchester still in the Champions League though – and will be mindful that there is no away goals rule now.
Manchester United vs. Atlético Madrid full time result odds
Atlético Madrid will feel in no particular rush to score here and will be quite happy frustrating a Manchester United side that has disappointed this season and will probably be being urged on by the home fans. There may be even fewer chances made here than in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano and it would not be a surprise if these two end up all square after 90 minutes. The draw is priced at 23/10.
Manchester United vs. Atlético Madrid both teams to score odds
Whether both teams end up scoring on Tuesday probably comes down to the possibility of United finding the net. Simeone will be more than happy to frustrate the home side until needed. The problem for United is that he has the attacking talent at his disposal to do that. Expect a close run game where both teams do end up finding the net. The odds for that are 1/1 and look like pretty good value.
Manchester United vs. Atlético Madrid correct score odds
Atlético’s traditional defensive strength has disappeared a little this season – and Manchester United have conceded a fair few goals as well – so there is the possibility of a multi-goal thriller at Old Trafford on Tuesday. But it is more likely to revert to a cagey game of few real chances. That brings up the potential for a low scoring draw and odds of 11/2 for it to finish 1-1 after 90 minutes look good value.
Manchester United vs. Atlético Madrid first goalscorer odds
Cristiano Ronaldo is the bookies’ favourite to open the scoring against Atlético on Tuesday. But he has only managed one since the turn of the year and doesn’t even seem to be in Rangnick’s good books at the moment. Joao Felix was in masterful form in the first leg and could be an option if he is picked ahead of Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann again.
