Milan vs. Fiorentina Tips, Preview and Predictions

Milan and Fiorentina club crests ahead of their Serie A fixture

Napoli’s defeat to Empoli last week turned the scudetto race into an all-Milan affair and now the Rossoneri must keep up the pressure on their city rivals by beating Fiorentina at home on Sunday. The Viola are chasing a European spot too though, so it won’t be easy.

Last time: Fiorentina came out on top in a seven-goal thriller when these two last met back in November and there have been plenty of goals in the last few seasons.

Milan vs. Fiorentina Predictions and Preview

Inter played their game in hand in the week, so now both Milan clubs will be going into the final four match days of the season on a level playing field. The Rossoneri play this game earlier than Inter’s trip to Udine this weekend, so get the chance to call the shots for a few hours at least.

After two goalless draws that allowed Inter to catch up at the top, Milan have now beaten Genoa and Lazio to get back on track for their shot at the scudetto. They did need a stoppage time winner from Sandro Tonali to take all three points in Rome though.

Fiorentina have defied expectations after losing star striker Dušan Vlahović to Juventus in January. The Serbian is still the club’s top goal scorer this season – by a long way – and he was definitely missed at the weekend when La Viola lost to relegation-threatened Salernitana.

Milan vs. Fiorentina full time result odds

Milan have only lost three league games at home all season – and none since the middle of January. So Stefano Pioli will be confident that his players can claim all three points this weekend. He has no new fresh injury concerns and will hope that Olivier Giroud can score his tenth league goal of the season against Fiorentina. The visitors are pushing for a Europa League place but the home win seems more likely at 4/6.

Milan vs. Fiorentina both teams to score odds

There have been goals when these two sides have met in the last few years but Milan have slowed down on that front in recent weeks as the pressure on the players has increased. The Rossoneri will be aiming to keep it tight at the back and rely on their attacking players to confirm a narrow victory. That’s why a bet against both teams to score at 17/20 looks better value here.

Milan vs. Fiorentina correct score odds

After a flurry of goals around the start of the year, Milan have only managed to score more than once in four of the last 13 Serie A games. Two of those have come in the last two games – but the home side will be more interested in stopping Fiorentina score and snatching a victory to keep up the title challenge. A 1-0 win for the hosts is priced at 11/2.

Milan vs. Fiorentina first goalscorer odds

There may not be many goals in this one and the first goalscorer may actually turn out to be the match winner. Giroud scored the equaliser away at Lazio last weekend before Tonali won the game – and it is the French striker that could open proceedings here. Fiorentina do have a number of players that could find the net but they have not been prolific this season.
