A second successive goalless draw for Milan has made things very interesting at the top of Serie A as we head into the final stretch of the season. Now Stefano Pioli must get his players to improve before Inter, Napoli or even Juve kick into gear.
Where and when: San Siro – 15 April, kick-off 20:00
Where you can see Milan vs. Genoa: BT Sport
Last time: Milan have put three goals past Genoa twice already this season – once in the league in December and then again a month later in the Coppa Italia.
Milan vs. Genoa Predictions and Preview
The Rossoneri will already be painfully aware of how much those two draws against Bologna and Torino may have hurt their scudetto aspirations this season. But by the time kick off arrives at the San Siro on Friday, they may have been usurped at the top of Serie A by city rivals Inter. That makes it even more important that Milan take an expected all three points from this fixture.
Genoa will also be desperate for the win though. Alexander Blessin – the Grifone’s fourth head coach of the season – saw his side concede four at home to Lazio on Sunday and has only tasted victory once since taking over in the middle of January. An early string of draws has not been enough to keep Genoa out of the bottom three.
This is just about a top versus bottom affair with both sides needing the points for differing reasons.
Milan vs. Genoa full time result odds
Both Milan and Genoa have an extensive injury list at the moment – but nothing new from last weekend’s games – so it will be the home side that goes into this game as the big favourite. Odds of 3/10 may not seem too attractive but it seems very unlikely that Genoa will record only their third win of the season away at the league leaders.
Milan vs. Genoa both teams to score odds
Milan may not have scored in the last two games but they have also not conceded since the end of February. It is that defensive strength that has kept the scudetto dream alive as the goals have dried up at the other end. Genoa had become something of a draw specialist after Blessin took over – but it wasn’t because of their goal scoring skills. A bet against both teams to score at 4/7 would be the wisest choice.
Milan vs. Genoa correct score odds
This feels like the game when Milan will finally find the net for the first time since the middle of March, but the scoreline may not be as prolific as the fans would hope. A narrow win will be enough to stay at the top of the table though, even if Inter beat Spezia in the earlier game, so odds of 5/1 for a 1-0 Milan victory seem like good value.
Milan vs. Genoa first goalscorer odds
There is no guarantee that Zlatan Ibrahimović or Ismaël Bennacer will be fit for this one – and with Ante Rebić also likely to miss out it looks as though Milan may have to rely on Olivier Giroud to score the all-important first goal on Friday. The French striker is actually the joint top scorer for the Rossoneri this season and will be one of the favourites to find the net first against Genoa.
