Milan v Inter Predictions and Preview
In 270 minutes of action, Milan have stumbled, scoring just twice. Despite this, the Rossoneri have two wins on the board and have only conceded once. Giampaolo has chopped and changed with his line-up, but appears content with a 4-3-2-1 formation, with talisman Krzysztof Piątek leading the attack.
The Pole has 12 goals from 24 appearances to his name, averaging a goal every other game and his battle with Diego Godin and Milan Skriniar will prove vital.
Piątek is 11/2 to open proceedings and 16/1 to net two or more. The competition for places is fierce behind the striker, with Lucas Paqueta, Suso, Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao all battling for two spots and Giampaolo has a welcome selection dilemma on his hands.
The Inter starting eleven is more certain. Conte’s formidable backline includes Diego Godin, Skriniar and De Vrij, with a midfield trio of Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and breakout star Stefano Sensi.
The diminutive Italian has been a revelation since moving from Sassuolo and is on the verge of becoming an Azzurri regular under Roberto Mancini. Sensi got the only goal against Udinese and is 7/1 to bag last this weekend.
One to watch for Milan: The Rossoneri beat off much competition to land Leão and big things are expected of the Portuguese starlet. The recruit from Lille is 15/2 to net last.
One to watch for Inter: Martinez is likely to start alongside Lukaku but Alexis Sanchez should feature in the final half-hour. The Chilean is 6/1 to get the final goal of the contest, writing his name in to Nerazzurri folklore in the process.
Long shot: While the Nerazzurri quite rightly go in to the clash as favourites, the form book goes out the window on Derby day. Furthermore, Milan have yet to truly hit the ground running, and will undoubtedly be fresher given Inter’s midweek Champions League travails. A 3-2 win in favour of the Rossoneri is available at 46/1.
