All the onus is on AC Milan as the Rossoneri attempt to complete a stunning rescue mission and qualify for the Champions League knockout rounds. Liverpool are already through as group winners and have nothing riding on this game.

Last time: Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson both scored for Liverpool in the second half, as the Reds recovered from a 2-1 half-time deficit to beat Milan 3-2 at Anfield in September.

Milan v Liverpool Predictions and Preview

These two clubs have shared some classic encounters over the years, although only the home team have anything riding on this latest instalment of Milan versus Liverpool. The Rossoneri need to win this game and hope the other result in Champions League Group B in order to retain their interest in this year’s competition.

The Italian giants enter this game third in the group, one point behind second-placed Porto, who play Atletico Madrid at home in this final round of fixtures. Milan need a draw in that match, coupled with a victory of their own, in order to reach the knockout rounds.

Every possibility is still open for Stefano Pioli’s side heading into this Milan v Liverpool preview. They could reach the Champions League round of 16, finish third and enter the Europa League, or be dumped out of continental competition altogether by finishing bottom.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are guaranteed to win this group on account of their 10-point lead over Porto in second. The Reds have won all five of their Group B fixtures so far, rattling in 15 goals and conceding five at the other end.

That’s an average scoreline of 3-1 to Liverpool across the group, with the visitors 28/1 to win by that margin on Tuesday. Back in the outright market though, Milan are the 11/9 favourites. Jurgen Klopp’s side are 12/5, with the draw priced at 68/23

Milan will have to do without influential defender Simon Kjaer for this make-or-break clash due to injury. Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic should be fit though, along with Davide Calabria and Samu Castillejo.

Liverpool manager Klopp may decide to rotate significantly with top spot already in the bag, as he did against Porto last time out. Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Naby Keita won’t be able to provide any additional options though, with the trio currently sidelined through injury.

One to watch for Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to defy his age and will be desperate to lead the Rossoneri into the last 16. The Swedish striker is yet to score in this season’s Champions League, but is 3/1 to put that right by netting the opener in these Milan v Liverpool predictions.

One to watch for Liverpool: Mohamed Salah certainly has been scoring in this Champions League campaign. The Egyptian star has six goals already in the competition and is 9/2 to add to his tally with the opener at San Siro.

Long shot: Nothing but a win will do for the home team here. They are 10/1 to get the victory they need through an edgy 1-0 triumph as part of these Milan v Liverpool tips. Those odds rise to 39/1 if you choose Ibrahimovic as the match-winning hero.
