AC Milan are aiming to bounce back from their first defeat of the 2021-22 Serie A season when they host Sassuolo at San Siro on Sunday afternoon. The Rossoneri are still level on points with fellow early pacesetters Napoli, but will want to make an immediate return to winning ways.

Last time: Sassuolo came from behind to beat Milan 2-1 in last season’s corresponding fixture at San Siro, with Giacomo Raspadori netting a late brace to secure the points for the visitors.
Milan v Sassuolo Predictions and Preview
Milan’s defeat to Sassuolo last season brought an end to their nine-game unbeaten run against the Neroverdi, stretching back to March 2013. The Rossoneri won both previous meetings between the clubs 2-1 at the Mapei Stadium, and Stefano Pioli will expect his team to get back to winning ways both in this fixture and after last weekend.
Il Diavolo lost their unbeaten record for the season in an action-packed 4-3 loss away to Fiorentina on Saturday. There hasn’t been much time to mope around though, following Wednesday’s trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, which restricts Pioli’s preparation time for this game.
Despite that, the hosts are the heavy favourites for the win at 16/25 in this Milan v Sassuolo preview. The Rossoneri have looked like the real deal this season, responding to a couple of key departures in the summer to arguably boast greater strength in depth thanks to arrivals such as Olivier Giroud.
Milan have won 10 of their opening 13 Serie A fixtures so far this term, and it’d be a huge surprise if they didn’t increase that particular tally this weekend. Sassuolo have struggled so far this term and are without a win in their last three games, having only mustered four victories all season.
Alessio Dionisi has struggled to get through to his players through his early months in charge of the Neroverdi, who would’ve hoped to have been much higher than 13th at this stage of the campaign, despite losing the influential Manuel Locatelli during the summer.
As well as their win at San Siro last season, the visitors will also be buoyed by their hosts’ injury troubles. Fikayo Tomori, Ante Rebic and Davide Calabria are all set to miss this game, while Samu Castillejo, Alessandro Plizzari and goalkeeper Mike Maignan remain doubts.
One to watch for Milan: Zlatan Ibrahimovic notched a brace last weekend to take him to four goals in his last five Serie A appearances, and he is 14/5 to break the deadlock in these Milan v Sassuolo predictions.
One to watch for Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi has one more goal for the season than Ibrahimovic with six, and he is available at 10/1 to net first on Sunday afternoon.
Long shot: Each of the last three meetings between these clubs have finished in 2-1 away wins. The same outcome this weekend is 17/1 in these Milan v Sassuolo tips, rising to 164/1 if Berardi scores first.
