Napoli v Atalanta Predictions and Preview
Atalanta are building on their recent success, having won each of their opening three matches of the new Serie A season. La Dea passed a tough test with flying colours on their most recent away day, but a trip to Napoli represents another difficult day at the office for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Napoli endured a disappointing campaign last time round, but they’ve responded by winning their first two games of the new season. Gennaro Gattuso’s side beat Parma 2-0 away in their curtain-raiser, before thrashing Genoa 6-0 towards the end of September.
Atalanta have also been in the goals, scoring an incredible 13 times in their first three matches. That includes a 4-2 victory over Torino and a 5-2 win against Cagliari, as well as a superb 4-1 triumph over Lazio in Rome at the end of last month.

Over 6.5 goals
La Dea scored 17 more goals than the team with the second best attack last term, Inter, and they look set to continue in the same vein this season. Napoli may have kept two clean sheets so far this term, but that’s likely to change this weekend.
This game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair, with both teams in fine form in front of goal. With that in mind, an over 5.5 goals bet could be interesting at 6/1, while those odds double to 12/1 if you back at least one more strike.
If you’re more interested in the outright market, Napoli are still the narrow favourites despite Atalanta’s form and 16-point advantage last season. The Azzurri are 6/4 for the win with William Hill, while the visitors are 8/5 with the same bookmaker in your Napoli v Atalanta predictions. The draw, meanwhile, is priced at 3/1.
The away team could be without as many as five players due to injury and illness, with Cristiano Piccini, Marco Carnesecchi, Matteo Pessina, Mattia Caldara and Pierluigi Gollini all doubts or out. Napoli, on the other hand, could be missing Piotr Zielinski and Elif Elmas due to Covid-19, although Lorenzo Insigne is available after a hamstring injury.
One to watch for Napoli: Dries Mertens has four goals in his last seven games against Atalanta, breaking the deadlock on two occasions. The Belgian forward has netted in both of Napoli’s games so far this term, including the opener against Parma, and is 5/1 to strike first this weekend.
One to watch for Atalanta: Papu Gomez has already scored four times this term, including a brace against Lazio, after only managing seven goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season. The Argentine is playing with confidence and worth a couple of euros for the opening goal at 15/2.
Long shot: This is a game which screams goals. Both teams are looking sharp in the final third, while five of their last seven meetings have seen both teams score. Atalanta to win and over 6.5 goals in the game is priced at 33/1 this weekend, while you can back a 4-3 away win at 90/1.
