Napoli lock horns with surprise package Sampdoria in Matchday 22 of the Serie A calendar. The Partenopei currently hold an eight-point cushion over Inter in third but will be wary of the visitors who go in search of a domestic double over the home side. Samp have remarkably netted the same number of league goals as the Azzurri with only Roma and Juventus scoring more.

Napoli vs. Sampdoria Predictions and Preview
Hosts Napoli’s slim title hopes were dealt a severe blow in their previous fixture against Milan. The frustrating goalless draw put the Azzurri further adrift of the Bianconeri and with no top-four pressures, Carlo Ancelotti is now expected to prioritise doing well in the cups.
Ancelotti welcomed back star defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne after the duo served their respective suspensions for their dismissals in the 1-0 defeat against Inter on Boxing Day. Insigne, who has 12 goal involvements from 18 league appearances, will take his place on the left flank of Napoli’s attack and is 16/5 to open the scoring.
Joint top scorers in all competitions Arek Milik and Dries Mertens led the line as a pair in the trip to San Siro but one of the forwards is expected to drop to the subs bench given the threat posed by Sampdoria. Mertens can be found at 5/4 in the anytime market while the big Pole is 3/1 to hit the final effort of the contest. Napoli are 4/11 for all three points.
The visiting Blucerchiati come in to the duel in fine form, recently thumping Udinese 4-0 with Quagliarella securing his place in the history books. The evergreen forward scored in his 11th consecutive Serie A match, drawing level with Gabriel Batistuta and the 36-year-old will have the chance to hold the record outright against his hometown club. Quagliarella is X/X to register anytime and add to his tally of 16 for the term while Samp are 8/1 to claim the spoils.
One to watch for Napoli: Piotr Zieliński deputised superbly for Marek Hamsik while the skipper was out through injury and should keep his place following Fabián Ruiz’s red against the Rossoneri. The midfielder is 10/3 to strike anytime.
One to watch for Sampdoria: It took winter signing Manolo Gabbiadini just two games to find the back of the net on his return to the club and the Italian is 31/5 to score last.
Long shot: Sampdoria have proven their credentials going forward, but do offer chances at the other end of the pitch. Much like the Atalanta vs. Roma matchup last weekend, this showdown should be a fine spectacle for the neutral and a 3-3 final score is 110/1.
