Napoli vs. Udinese Predictions and Preview
After cruising through the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie against Red Bull Salzburg, Napoli had to come from behind to salvage a point against Sassuolo in domestic action.
The Azzurri were trailing to a Domenico Berardi goal until Lorenzo Insigne equalised with minutes remaining in what was a timely boost for club and the local lad who was without a goal in four weeks of football.
Napoli have been in second place for the majority of the campaign but now find themselves looking over their shoulder with a resurgent Milan fast approaching. The Rossoneri are just six points adrift of Carlo Ancelotti’s men and the Southerners will have to improve on a sequence of one victory from the last five league clashes.
Pleasingly for Ancelotti is the displays of Arek Milik. The giant Pole had endured a difficult 24 months on the treatment table but has been like a new signing this campaign, leading the way for the Azzurri with 15 goals in all competitions. The ex-Ajax hitman is the 5/2 favourite to open the scoring and continue his rich vein of goalscoring form. Napoli are 2/9 to get back to winning ways.
Visitors Udinese were trounced 4-1 to a much changed Juventus last Friday. It doesn’t get any easier for the Zebrette who still have to face both Rome clubs, Inter and Atalanta in the run-in and realistically need to find at least four more victories to give themselves a proper chance of surviving. Udinese are 12/1 to seal a priceless victory and 19/4 to earn a share of the spoils.
One to watch for Napoli: Adam Ounas was rewarded for his displays in Europe with a league start against Sassuolo and performed well. The young Algerian is 7/1 in the anytime scorer betting.
One to watch for Udinese: Rodrigo de Paul has 11 goal involvements to his name and Ancelotti will be mindful of the Argentine’s quality. De Paul is 4/1 to register the opening effort.
Long shot: Udinese are fighting for their lives and will come off the pitch knowing they have given their all, but, ominously, will come up against a side who have been below par for the last five weeks and Ancelotti is unlikely to let this poor sequence continue. Napoli are available at 14/1 to claim a 4-0 success.
