Peru vs. Uruguay Predictions and Preview
Uruguay are now the second favourites to win the competition behind hosts Brazil, partly due to the poor form of Argentina – who also remain in contention.
Oscar Tabarez’s side are well placed to go into the last four as they take on a Peru side who are out of form – while Uruguay collected seven points from their three group games.
Four points were sufficient for Peru to progress – they defeated Bolivia 3-1 and were held to a 0-0 draw by Venezuela, but worryingly they crashed to a five-goal loss to Brazil.
Uruguay have conceded just twice in their last six games while Peru have failed to score in three of their last four games, so under 1.5 goals at 41/20 appears to be a solid bet with under 2.5 at 13/20.
If you fancy Uruguay to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 13/8.
One to watch for Peru: Christian Cueva plays his club football in Brazil with Santos and coming into the tournament, scored each of Peru’s last two goals. The midfielder is now into double figures internationally and will once more be a threat here, priced at 5/1 to score at any point.
One to watch for Uruguay: Edinson Cavani has already netted 48 goals for his nation and he will be keen to bring up the half-century this tournament. He has already scored in two of his three appearances in this Copa and he can be found at 5/4 to score here.
Long shot: Uruguay have five clean sheets from the past six, at least one side has not scored, while Peru have failed to score four times in their past six matches. Odds of this game to finish scoreless are at 6/1.
