PSV Eindhoven v Galatasaray Predictions and Preview
This will be the first competitive meeting between PSV Eindhoven and Galatasaray since they were drawn together in the group stage of the Champions League in 2006. PSV won home and away as they finished second in a group also containing Liverpool and Bordeaux, while Galatasaray finished bottom.
Victory in this tie won’t even secure a place in the tournament proper for either of these teams. Both clubs finished second in their domestic leagues last season to find themselves in the Champions League qualifiers, although Galatasaray were much closer to success than PSV.
The Yellow-Reds won their last six matches in a row to catch up Besiktas at the top of the Super Lig table, but the 22-time champions narrowly lost out on their head-to-head record against their local rivals.
PSV, on the other hand, were 16 points back from Eredivisie champions Ajax. Roger Schmidt’s side only lost one of their last 14 games of the season, producing a seven-game unbeaten run to finish the campaign.

PSV to win and BTTS
PSV to win 2-1
PSV to win and over 2.5 goals
The Dutch side have played four pre-season friendlies ahead of this tie, scoring 16 goals in their first two games as they swatted aside RWDM and then Delbrucker, beating the latter 10-1. A goalless draw with Osnabruck preceded a 1-0 victory over PAOK last week, with the Red and Whites the 14/19 favourites in these PSV Eindhoven v Galatasaray predictions.
The visitors are 19/5, after only managing to play two warm-up games. Fatih Terim’s side beat Dinamo Bucharest 2-1 before a 4-2 victory over Kasimpasa, with another friendly against Olympiakos scheduled for last week ending up being cancelled.
A draw in this first leg is 13/5 with William Hill and would leave the tie finely poised ahead of next week’s return. At the moment, PSV are the 4/7 favourites to progress to the next round of Champions League qualifiers, with Galatasaray priced at 7/4.
One to watch for PSV Eindhoven: Mario Gotze scored five goals in 13 Eredivisie appearances for the Boeren last season. The German World Cup winner is 7/1 to begin his second season at the Phillips Stadion by netting the opener in this game.
One to watch for Galatasaray: Radamel Falcao is heading into his third season with Galatasaray. The Colombian striker remains a deadly prospect when fit, scoring 19 times in 33 Super Lig appearances so far for the Cimbom. He is 6/1 to break the deadlock on Wednesday night.
Long shot: PSV scored two goals in both of their games against Galatasaray when they crossed paths in the Champions League 15 years ago. A 2-1 home win is 15/2 as part of your PSV v Galatasaray tips, rising to 107/1 if Gotze and Falcao both manage to get on the scoresheet.
