Last time: Neither side could make the breakthrough as the teams shared a goalless draw at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano back in April.
Real Betis v Real Madrid Predictions and Preview
Despite their financial superiority and the greater quality they’ve possessed within their squad, Real Madrid have far from had it all their own way against Real Betis over recent years. So, can Los Blancos get back to winning ways this weekend, or will Los Verdiblancos inflict a first defeat of Ancelotti’s second spell in the Spanish capital on the Italian coach?
The bookmakers are certainly backing the visitors in this Real Betis v Real Madrid preview, who are the odds-on favourites at 16/19. Los Blancos began the new campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory away to Alaves, but had to come from behind twice despite taking an early lead to draw 3-3 with Levante last time out.

Real Madrid to win 3-2
Real Madrid to win and BTTS
This is Madrid’s third straight away game to start the 2021-22 season, as they wait for the renovation work on their Santiago Bernabeu home to be completed. It’ll be some effort to get the Bernabeu ready for the clash with Celta Vigo on September 11, but that has little impact on these Real Betis v Real Madrid predictions.
The fact that Betis will enjoy home advantage does have a bearing on the potential outcome of this game. Los Verdiblancos lost 3-2 to Madrid on home soil last season, but they were somewhat unfortunate in conceding a penalty and an own goal in the second half, while that’s Betis’s only defeat to Madrid in the last five meetings between the clubs.
Los Verdiblancos have won two of those matches, with ex-Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini plotting to improve their record against his former club this weekend. He is 10/3 with William Hill to do so by claiming a first win of the new campaign, following a pair of 1-1 draws against Real Mallorca and Cadiz to start. Another point here wouldn’t be a bad result at all for Betis, who are 3/1 to share the spoils once again here.
One to watch for Real Betis: Nabil Fekir is central to much of what Betis do best, playing a key role for Los Verdiblancos as they finished sixth last season to qualify for the Europa League. The French playmaker scored five goals in La Liga last term and is 7/1 to open his account for the new campaign by breaking the deadlock in this game.
One to watch for Real Madrid: Eden Hazard has started Madrid’s first two games of the season, and the Belgian needs to stay in the team week in, week out if he’s to get anywhere near the sort of form that took him to the Bernabeu in the first place. He is 11/2 to open the scoring on Saturday night with what would be his first goal in 10 games for club and country.
Long shot: Betis have won two of their last five games against Madrid, scoring exactly two goals on both occasions. That includes a 2-1 victory at the Benito Villamarin the season before last, with a repeat of that scoreline priced at 14/1 in these Real Betis v Real Madrid predictions.
