Real Madrid v Liverpool Predictions and Preview
Both sides come into this game on the back of somewhat disappointing league campaigns, especially in Real Madrid’s case after they failed to mount any form of title challenge. Liverpool meanwhile finished 25 points behind the runaway Premier League champions, Manchester City.
However, both teams were full of goals, and both finished as the second-highest scorers in their respective leagues. Real Madrid bagged 10 more goals in their 38 games than Liverpool, but no one in the Los Blancos ranks can manage the tally Premier League Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah amassed.
The Egyptian helped himself to 32 goals in the league, and goes into the Champions League final at 23/5 for the first goal. He’s not the favourite to open the scoring though. That honour understandably goes to Cristiano Ronaldo, who is priced at 16/5 despite lingering concerns over his fitness.
Although he scored six fewer goals than Salah in the league this term, Ronaldo has a better goals to games ratio, after netting 26 times in 27 appearance. Salah’s 32 came from 36 games, which is still an impressive tally.
Ronaldo has also outscored the Reds forward by 15 goals to 10 in the Champions League proper, with the Portuguese No.7 17/20 to score anytime and 13/8 to score in a Real Madrid win. Salah is 5/4 to bag at any point in the initial 90 minutes, and 3/1 in a score/win double.
Gareth Bale is also 3/1 to score in a win for his side, after making an encouraging return to the Real line-up in recent weeks. The Welshman is 13/2 to score first, which is the same price you’ll get on Karim Benzema, who has two in his last two games against Liverpool – the same as Ronaldo.
For the Reds, Roberto Firmino is available at 15/2 for the first goal, while Sadio Mane is 9/1. The last goal of this game could turn out to be the all-important one, with Ronaldo leading the way at 16/5 ahead of Salah at 23/5.
One to watch for Real Madrid: Marco Asensio could start this game on the bench, but he’ll be a threat in the closing stages if the game’s still in the balance. He’s 10/1 to score the last goal of the match in what could be a telling contribution for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
One to watch for Liverpool: Dominic Solanke scored his first Reds goal on the final day of the Premier League season, and Jurgen Klopp could turn to him if Liverpool need something late on. He’s 9/1 for the game’s last goal, while Danny Ings is 17/2.
Long shot: Sergio Ramos has a habit of scoring big goals for Real Madrid. He’s 25/1 in the first and last goalscorer markets, while Georginio Wijnaldum is the same price.
