Real Madrid v Real Valladolid Predictions and Preview
Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last nine matches against Real Valladolid, winning all but one of those. Los Blancos have won the last six meetings between the sides at the Bernabeu, scoring 23 goals to Valladolid’s five. So, is there any hope for the visitors this weekend?
A week ago you might have said yes, considering the disarray Madrid had fallen into over the summer. However, Zidane somehow concocted a very good performance from his side away to Celta Vigo, even handing a surprise start to Gareth Bale who the French boss publicly implored to leave just a matter of weeks ago.
Despite his lack of pre-season minutes, Bale was impressive as Los Blancos won 3-1, Vigo scoring an injury-time consolation after goals from Benzema, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vasquez gave the away team a commanding lead. With Barcelona losing to Athletic Bilbao in their opening fixture, Real have a chance to capitalise with an early statement of intent.

Valladolid meanwhile have three away games to open their campaign. After beating Real Betis 2-1 at the weekend, this is something of a free hit for Los Blanquivioletas. The Pucela profited from an early red card for Betis goalkeeper Joel Robles on Sunday, but they showed plenty of character to finally win the match at the death courtesy of an Oscar Plano strike.
After finishing 16th and only four points clear of the bottom three last season though, Valladolid are in for a tough evening in the capital this weekend. Madrid may have their issues, but their squad’s full of talent and they have an excellent record against their visitors on Saturday.
Los Blancos have won the last two meetings between the sides at the Bernabeu without conceding a goal, and that could be a solid bet again here at 6/5. Those odds are much more appealing than the price of 2/9 you can get on Madrid in the outright market. Valladolid meanwhile are available at 14/1, with the draw at 13/2.
One to watch for Madrid: Gareth Bale was surprisingly named in Madrid’s starting line-up last weekend, and if the Welshman gets the nod again, he’s certainly worth a look at 7/2 in the first goalscorer market.
One to watch for Valladolid: Oscar Plano was the Valladolid hero last weekend with his late winning goal. The Spanish forward only managed three all of last season, but he’s 17/1 to break the deadlock in this weekend’s match.
Long shot: Madrid have won the last two meetings between the clubs at the Bernabeu by an aggregate score of 6-0. Los Blancos scored three goals in their season opener and they are 15/2 to win this one 3-0, rising to 32/1 with Bale scoring first.
