Real Madrid vs. Real Valladolid La Liga Betting Tips and Preview

Real Madrid vs. Real Valladolid, La Liga

Real Madrid have their first home game of the season as the new La Liga champions, as they welcome Real Valladolid to the Bernabeu on Wednesday night. Los Blancos have an excellent record against their visitors in this midweek round of fixtures, and will look to continue that with an uplifting performance here.

Where and when: Santiago Bernabeu – 30 September, kick-off 20:30

Last time: Nacho got the only goal of the game just over 10 minutes from time when these clubs last met, which was at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla towards the end of January.

Real Madrid v Real Valladolid Predictions and Preview

Real Madrid made an underwhelming start to their title defence, and Zinedine Zidane will demand significant improvement here. It’s a tough assignment for Real Valladolid, who can hardly look to their recent record against Los Blancos for encouragement.

Madrid are unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Los Pucelanos, winning nine of those. Valladolid did get a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu last season, but that was the first time they’d avoided defeat at this ground in La Liga since 2001.

It’s been 20 years since the Blanquivioletas beat Madrid on their own patch, and their performances in their opening two fixtures of this campaign hardly suggest that’s about to change. Sergio’s side drew at home to Real Sociedad before losing 2-0 at Real Betis, with an away win here looking very unlikely at 11/1

The hosts are the heavy favourites to pick up all three points, priced at 2/7 with William Hill in your latest Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid predictions. The champions have the pedigree both in this fixture and in terms of their squad, even if they were a little toothless in their goalless draw at Real Sociedad to open the season.

What’s more, Valladolid have a raft of injuries to worry about, with as many as seven players potentially missing out. Sekou Gassama and goalkeeper Jordi Masip are both doubtful, while Javi Moyano, Joaquin and Kiko Olivas are all out, along with Hacen and Ruben Alcaraz.

Madrid, meanwhile, only have fitness concerns over Mariano Diaz and Eder Militao. Eden Hazard’s quest for optimum conditioning continues though, with the Belgian looking to shed a few excess pounds and reach match sharpness.

Even so, Madrid have other attacking options looking to stake a claim in the starting XI in support of Karim Benzema, and more time together on the pitch after Saturday’s trip to Betis will only help the likes of Martin Odegaard, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior gel. With that in mind, another draw for the champions would be a real upset, but it’s priced at 5/1 if you fancy it.

One to watch for Real Madrid: There’s a lot of pressure on Karim Benzema to fire in the goals this season, with his supporting cast relatively young and inexperienced. The Frenchman looks a good bet for the opening goal of Wednesday’s game.

One to watch for Real Valladolid: Michel scored Valladolid’s first goal of the season against Sociedad the other weekend, which is as many as he got in the league in the last two seasons. The midfielder hasn’t managed more than that in the top flight since 2012/13 with Levante, but can he break the deadlock here?

Long shot: Madrid have scored exactly four goals in five of their last eight victories over Valladolid, while they’ve conceded nine times in those eight matches. A 4-1 home win could therefore be of interest, especially at odds of 18/1
