Roma vs. Bologna Predictions and Preview

Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco desperately needed his side’s 3-0 win over basement club Chievo in the last matchday to ease the pressure on his shoulders.

Blowing a three-goal lead at Atalanta to draw 3-3 before losing 7-1 at Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia increased scrutiny on his shoulders, with his side languishing in sixth – but just one point off the top four.

Bologna recently recorded a memorable 1-0 win at Inter to end a run of 14 league games without a win, but unsurprisingly remain in the relegation zone.

Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side drew 1-1 at home to Genoa last time out but remain in the relegation zone despite being level on points with Empoil, in 17th.

It is not surprising that it is the home side who are favourites to win this encounter at odds of 2/5, with Bologna priced at 6/1 and the draw available at 15/4.

These fixtures tend to produce relatively few goals with just five going in across the most recent three meetings so under 1.5 goals at 19/5  appears to be a solid bet with under 2.5 at 5/4.

A ‘double chance’ on Bologna to come away with either a draw or a win is available at 15/8 while a Roma win/draw outcome is at 1/14.

If you fancy the home side to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 11/10.

Latest Form

One to watch for Roma: Edin Dzeko has scored three goals in his last three Serie A matches as the Bosnian international finally appears to be re-finding his form.

One to watch for Bologna: Paraguayan striker Federico Santander is the dangerman for Bologna, with six goals to his name in Serie A. He netted against Roma this season and also scored in recent visits to Inter and Napoli.

Long shot: Bologna have managed just five goals in their last nine matches while Roma failed to score in recent games against Real Madrid, Udinese and Juventus. Odds of this game to finish scoreless are available at 14/1.
