Roma vs. Fiorentina Predictions and Preview
It was another miserable afternoon for Roma and Claudio Ranieri in the previous gameweek. The Lupi hosted Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli and were completely outclassed in all departments during the 4-1 hammering. During his coaching career, particularly in England, Ranieri earned the moniker ‘Tinkerman’ and the Rome native has continued to adopt these principles during his second spell in charge at his boyhood club.
Ranieri has chopped and changed his front six on a weekly basis with youngsters Cengiz Under, Nicolo Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert starting on the substitutes bench against the Azzurri, despite Under and Zaniolo being two of the Lupi’s better performers this year.
The starlets should come back in to the team against Fiorentina with Patrik Schick and Diego Perotti making way. Under is 7/4 to net anytime during the 90 minutes while Roma are 19/20 to earn all three points and get back in to contention in the race for a top four place.
Travelling party Fiorentina were recently held to a 1-1 draw with Torino. The Viola had to make do without the services of star man Federico Chiesa after the talented winger sustained an injury on international duty with Italy.
Chiesa should come back in to the fold in the battle of the European hopefuls and is an attractive 8/1 to open proceedings. Strike colleagues Luis Muriel is 11/2 in the same market while Giovanni Simeone is 15/2. Fiorentina are 11/4 to emerge triumphant and 13/5 to chalk up what would be a whopping 15th draw from 30 league ties.
One to watch for Roma: Edin Dzeko has had a below par campaign by his own personal standards but remains the Lupi’s key focal point. Dzeko is 21/20 to net anytime.
One to watch for Fiorentina: Veretout has eight goal involements to his name and has forged a good career for himself in Italy after a disappointing spell with Aston Villa. The Frenchman is 12/1 to score the first goal.
Long shot: Fiorentina will have fond memories from their role in the thrashing of the season. The Viola famously dismantled Roma 7-1 at the end of January in the Coppa Italia and almost certainly hold a psychological edge over their opponents on Tuesday night. A 3-1 triumph for the visitors is 28/1.
