Roma vs. Udinese Predictions and Preview
Roma got back to winning ways courtesy of Daniele De Rossi in the contest with Sampdoria. The clash between two European hopefuls was expected to be a thriller but it was the World Cup winner who handed the Lupi all three points as the race for the Champions League places intensifies.
With seven games remaining, Claudio Ranieri’s men still have to play champions Juventus and Inter and the bookmakers have them behind Napoli, the Nerazzurri, Milan, Lazio and Atalanta to achieve a top 4 finish.
Ranieri continues to tinker with his line-up on a weekly basis and gave Patrik Schick the nod ahead of regular forward Edin Dzeko against Doria. The Bosnian is expected to leave the capital this summer after four seasons but is a big game player and is likely to feature in the two decisive ties with the Bianconeri and Luciano Spalletti’s squad. Dzeko is 13/8 in the anytime market while the hosts are 1/2 to clinch victory.
Youngsters Justin Kluivert, Cengiz Under, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolo Zaniolo will all hope to feature from the opening whistle with Zaniolo an attractive 4/1 to open proceedings. The young Italian has six goals to his name in all competitions and has been a revelation in his debut season at the club.
Visitors Udinese picked up a priceless win against Empoli in the previous gameweek. The Zebrette are not yet safe but do have De Paul in the ranks, one of the star performers of this Serie A campaign. The travelling party are 6/1 to emerge triumphant and 7/2 to earn a point.
One to watch for Roma: Stephan El Shaarawy has personally enjoyed a good campaign and is 12/3 to bag anytime after returning from injury.
One to watch for Udinese: De Paul has contributed to 13 goals this term and if it wasn’t for the South American, the Zebrette may already be consigned to the drop. The midfielder is 7/2 to score last.
Long shot: Despite their respective league positions, Roma have conceded two more goals than Udinese. The Lupi have been leaky throughout the campaign and do give opportunities to the opposition. Consequently, a 2-2 outcome is 16/1, which would not be the desired result for either outfit.
