Ross County v Dundee United Predictions and Preview
Ross County were many pundits’ pick for relegation in the off season. The Staggies lost six of their final nine matches before the 2019-20 season was halted, but the signs are promising for a more stable year.
Central to the bright start has been the improvement in defence. The hosts shipped 60 goals last term, eight more than relegated Hearts and Kettlewell was quick to bring in reinforcements.

The 36-year-old snapped up Liverpool youth graduate Connor Randall, the experienced Coll Donaldson and Alex Iacovitti from Oldham Athletic. Josh Reid was called up from the academy and the backline overhaul has so far proven inspired as the Staggies have yet to concede.
Billy McKay will lead the forward and is showing no signs of slowing down. The Ulsterman hit double figures in the previous campaign and has been around the block. The Staggies number 9 is 10/3 to open proceedings and his goals will go a long way to a potential top six finish. Ross County are 7/5 to emerge triumphant and the draw is 11/5.
Travelling party Dundee missed top scorer Lawrence Shankland in midweek. The striker was out with an ankle injury but should be back in contention for the trip to Dingwall. Shankland was prolific in the Championship, bagging 24 efforts from 26 appearances and his exploits caught the eye of national boss Steve Clarke.
The ex-Chelsea assistant had no hesitation in picking the forward from Scotland’s second tier and Shankland rewarded Clarke’s faith with a goal against San Marino.
The Glaswegian is 15/4 to break the deadlock in only his 19th game in the Premiership. Teammate Nicky Clark is 11/2 in the same betting and the former Rangers ace will play a pivotal role linking the midfield and attack. The Terrors are 15/8 to claim the spoils.
One to watch for Ross County: Ross Stewart is in demand and the Staggies are desperate to tie the winger down to a new deal. The Stoke City and Blackburn target is 7/2 to score anytime.
One to watch for Dundee United: Louis Appéré will feature from the bench and offers something different to McKay and Clark. The target man is 11/1 to notch the final effort of the fixture.
Long shot: Dundee ran away with the second division title and have acquitted themselves well on their return to the top flight. The Terrors were unlucky against league leaders Hibs on Tuesday and with encounters against heavyweights Rangers and Celtic on the horizon, it is vital Micky Mellon’s team build momentum and confidence. A 3-0 outcome is 55/1.
