Sassuolo v Inter Predictions and Preview
The Neroverdi are in buoyant mood having secured consecutive wins in their last two clashes. After the dismissal of Cristian Bucchi, successor Beppe Iachini has quickly instilled confidence in the squad but will come up against his sternest test yet in the form of title chasing Inter. Iachini has the talent of Domenico Berardi to call upon and the Italian wideman must display the ability which once made him a transfer target for the Milan giants.
Sassuolo, who are 4/1 to emerge victorious, should be largely unchanged from the team who beat Sampdoria on Sunday night though match winner Alessandro Matri will push for a starting berth.
Visitors Inter suffered their first setback of the season and need an immediate response. Having established themselves as a genuine threat to champions Juventus and leaders Napoli, the Inter are strong favourites to leave with the spoils and this is reflected in the odds. At 4/6, Inter should have too much for their opponents, with talisman Mauro Icardi averaging a goal a game and ably assisted by winger Ivan Perisic. The Croatian has seven goals to his name and is worth a bet at 7/1 to get on the scoresheet.
With matches coming thick and fast over the festive period Spalletti is likely to ring the changes. Former Newcastle defender Davide Santon may drop to the bench following his poor showing last weekend with French starlet Yann Karamoh in his place. Summer signing Joao Cancelo will also come in to contention having recovered from a knee ligament injury.
One to watch for Sassuolo: Veteran Alessandro Matri clinched the three points with his goal in the final stages of the contest with Sampdoria and is 14/1 to score any time.
One to watch for Inter: Icardi is the division’s top scorer with 17 strikes to his name and is 2/1 to open the scoring.
Long shot: Sassuolo can make this a contest if they open the proceedings first but Inter possess one of the most formidable attacks in the country. A one goal half-time lead for the hosts and 2-2 final score is 75/1.
