Sassuolo v Inter Predictions and Preview
Former Benevento boss Roberto De Zerbi takes charge of his first official match in the Sassuolo dugout after his appointment in June. De Zerbi was backed in the market and welcomed Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jeremie Boga in to the ranks. Boateng, a league winner with Milan in 2011, moves from Eintracht Frankfurt and should aim for double figures across the campaign. The Ghanaian midfielder is 14/1 to open his account and the Neroverdi can be found at 19/4 to claim a triumph.
Champions Juventus may be the strong favourites to retain the Scudetto after the stunning capture of Cristiano Ronaldo, but Inter can be quietly confident of running the Bianconeri close. Before the Portuguese superstar’s arrival, it was the Nerazzurri who were lauded in the press for their astute summer signings. Spalletti brought in Stefan de Vrij and Kwadwo Asamoah on free deals, two hardened professionals who will instantly improve the Inter backline. Radja Nainggolan also joined and the dynamic midfielder will be a huge loss for former team Roma. The Belgian was the heartbeat of the side and the Nerazzurri are rightly considered Juventus’ biggest challengers.
Skipper and talisman Mauro Icardi is rumoured to be close to penning a contract extension and is a guarantee of 30 goals a season. The Argentine is 10/3 to open the scoring and 9/2 to bag a brace on the night. Inter are backed at 4/7 to pick up maximum points and 6/4 to strike in both halves of action.
One to watch for Sassuolo: Domenico Berardi made his senior international debut in June and is now expected to fulfill his rich potential. The attacker is 9/1 to register first.
One to watch for Inter: New addition Lautaro Martinez won’t start but will feature after the break. The Argentine youngster is 5/1 to bag the final effort of the contest.
Long shot: The Nerazzurri will believe they can achieve maximum points from their opening set of fixtures with games against Torino, Bologna and Parma coming up. A 4-0 success in Modena is available at 25/1 and would lay down a marker to fellow European hopefuls Roma, Lazio, Milan and Napoli.
