Sassuolo v Napoli Predictions and Preview

Home side Sassuolo were expected to be safe in mid-table this term but have endured a torrid 2017-18. The Neroverdi earned a respectable top-half finish last time but are probably four or five victories away from being certain of top flight football for another year.

Iachini’s team are 17/2 to pick up a priceless win but the main objective will be to keep the outcome respectable, with a favourable run-in against fellow strugglers Chievo, Benevento and Crotone still to come.

Second place Napoli remain two points adrift of champions Juventus with nine games remaining. Maurizio Sarri’s men look to be over the disappointing 4-2 loss at the hands of Roma at the beginning of the month and will hope Juventus continue to progress in Europe. The league’s top two sides have to navigate four clashes before they meet in April and the result is the primary objective at this stage of the season.

Sarri’s starting eleven picks itself but the return of target man Arkadiusz Milik is a timely boost for the Scudetto chasers. The big Pole has picked up valuable minutes in fixtures against Genoa, Inter and on international duty, and is another option for Sarri from the bench. The former Ajax striker has been ravaged by injuries for nearly his whole Azzurri career, but could be the wildcard going in the defining final weeks and the 11/4 last scorer odds represent good value for Milik. The Azzurri are 4/11 to come away with the spoils and 6/5 to register in both-halves.

Latest Form

One to watch for Sassuolo: Khouma Babacar has two strikes from his first five appearances since his loan move in January. The powerful Senegalese international is 13/1 to open proceedings and get the Neroverdi off to the best possible start.

One to watch for Napoli: Mertens is the obvious choice and the diminutive Belgian will look to add to his 17 goal haul this campaign. The versatile attacker is 5/2 to bag anytime during the clash.

Long shot: Sassuolo are the lowest scorer’s in the division, trailing basement club Benevento on just 19 efforts and have failed to score more than two goals in any match all year. In contrast, Sarri’s free flowing front six have notched three and a half times the amount of their hosts and a 5-0 triumph is priced at 28/1.
