Serie A football is back at last with the season kicking off this weekend, although it will be only seven games, as Inter, Atalanta and Spezia had to postpone their starts due to ending the previous campaign late amid European or promotion play-off commitments.

We still have some fascinating fixtures, including Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus debut against Sampdoria, Roma visiting Verona amid yet another injury crisis and Fiorentina with new-look Torino.

Tricky debut for Pirlo

Juventus vs. Sampdoria – Sunday September 20, Allianz Juventus Stadium, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Andrea Pirlo makes his management debut against the most experienced coach in Serie A, Claudio Ranieri, and his Juve are still getting to grips with a tactical and personnel transformation. Still missing a striker and with Paulo Dybala injured, this is nowhere near a full-strength Old Lady and they are ripe for an opening round upset. Tipping a Blucerchiati victory might be a bit much, but a draw at 5/1 is completely ignoring where these two teams are at right now.

Best bet for Juventus vs. Sampdoria: Draw at 5/1 with 888 Sport

Fireworks at the Bentegodi

Verona vs. Roma – Saturday September 19, Stadio Bentegodi, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

These are two teams who prefer to out-score the opponent rather than defend a lead, so seeing them go head-to-head should be fun. Roma are significantly weakened in defence this season and are using Bryan Cristante as a centre-back, while Verona lost their best players Marash Kumbulla, Amir Rrahmani and Sofyan Amrabat. Edin Dzeko is unlikely to leave the Giallorossi before this weekend, so he’ll want to depart with a goal or two.

Best bet for Verona vs. Roma: Over 3.5 goals at 85/40 with Bet Victor

Milan balancing act

Milan vs. Bologna – Monday September 21, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Milan will be in a position they haven’t been in for a while, namely balancing several tournaments simultaneously. They play Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League preliminary round on Thursday before hosting Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Bologna on Monday evening. Stefano Pioli doesn’t yet have a deep enough squad and fatigue could set in towards the end of this match against a Bologna side with many young and energetic players, such as Musa Barrow. It’s easy to see both teams on target, although the Rossoneri will probably emerge with the points eventually.

Best bet for Milan vs. Bologna: Both teams to score at 4/6 with William Hill
