We’re into the second half of the Serie A season, the Coppa Italia is in full swing and we enter the last days of the January transfer window. All of that points to extreme uncertainty and some potentially very surprising results. What shouldn’t be surprising is Atalanta, who continue their traditional January juggernaut and are up against Lazio – again.

When these sides met in the Coppa Italia quarter-final on Wednesday, there were five goals, a saved penalty and a red card. Expect much of the same this time around, as there usually is whenever Gian Piero Gasperini and Simone Inzaghi cross paths.

Milan are showing their lack of strength in depth and it was so ultimately Inter of Antonio Conte’s men to be given the chance to become Winter Champions only to throw it away. On paper, the Nerazzurri and Juventus should have easy weekends in Serie A, but with the Coppa Italia semi-final looming and the transfer market aflame, there could be distractions.

Atalanta and Lazio, game of the season

Atalanta vs. Lazio – Sunday January 31, Gewiss Stadium, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

If you must watch any Serie A match this weekend, make it this one. The 3-2 thriller in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final was just the latest in a long line of outlandish encounters, as in the last four meetings between these clubs, there have been 21 goals. Lazio will be out for revenge after losing to 10 men midweek and Atalanta look simply unstoppable right now.

Best bet for Atalanta vs. Lazio: Over 3.5 Goals at 5/4 with Bet Victor

Giallorossi chaos

Roma vs. Verona – Sunday January 31, Stadio Olimpico, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

There are few clubs more self-destructive than Roma and they are at it again, with Edin Dzeko pushed out after a row with Paulo Fonseca. They barely scraped past Spezia 4-3 last week and Verona are fresh from a comeback to beat Napoli, so why they are available at 4/1 to win here is anyone’s guess. Even then, these sides drew back in September (until Roma fielded an ineligible player), so let’s go for the safer option at what are still very good odds.

Best bet for Roma vs. Verona: Double Chance Draw/Verona at 6/5 on 888 Sport

Inter let loose

Inter vs. Benevento – Saturday January 30, Stadio Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

They fumbled the huge opportunity to be Winter champions, then huffed and puffed to break down 10-man Milan in the Coppa and are fired up for the semi-final with Juventus. Benevento are an inconvenience to be swept aside, but Pippo Inzaghi’s men always put up a fight. I see goals, not all of them scored by the hosts.

Best bet for Inter vs. Benevento: Over 3.5 Goals at 11/10 with Bet Victor
