Serie A tips of the week: Divided Milan Derby in a weekend of overs

Inter vs. Milan, Serie A

Football Italia Editor Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

Inter are the overwhelming favourites to win the Derby della Madonnina, but the bookmakers aren’t taking into account the history of this fixture, nor the most recent form and team news. If Samir Handanovic misses out with a fractured finger, it’s advantage Milan. Elsewhere, Verona could very well frustrate Juventus for long periods, but the fatigue of playing Lazio midweek means they’ll capitulate eventually.

Unpredictable Milan Derby

Inter vs. Milan – Sunday February 9, Stadio Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

The Derby della Madonnina is famously one of the toughest fixtures to predict in the Serie A calendar, as the old ‘form goes out the window in a local derby’ cliché has never been more apt than at San Siro. In this case, Inter’s early season surge is dissipating and at the same time Milan have found their feet under Stefano Pioli and with a new 4-4-2 system.

There are also caveats. Christian Eriksen will start for the Nerazzurri, but isn’t yet fully integrated into his new team, while Lautaro Martinez is suspended and goalkeeper Samir Handanovic could miss the match with a fractured finger. Inter have drawn three of their last four Serie A games and another here is a good bet.

Best bet for Inter vs. Milan: Draw and both teams to score at 18/5 with Bet Victor

Fireworks in Florence

Fiorentina vs. Atalanta – Saturday February 8, Stadio Artemio Franchi, Kick-off: 2.00pm

These teams have clashed several times over the last year, as they also met in a Coppa Italia semi-final and the Round of 16 only last month. They’ve all had common themes, largely both teams were on target and there were plenty of goals. It’s a fairly safe bet to assume the same will happen this weekend, with the outcome up for grabs depending on who shakes the woodwork rather than the back of the net. The last five competitive meetings have seen both teams scoring for a total of 20 goals.

Best bet for Fiorentina vs. Atalanta: Over 3.5 Goals at 7/4 with 888 Sport

Spectacular Sassuolo

SPAL vs. Sassuolo – Sunday February 9, Stadio Paolo Mazza, Kick-off: 11.30am

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Sassuolo are surging with confidence after their 4-2 victory over Roma, a game that had seen them surge into a 3-0 lead within 30 minutes. It’s therefore only to be expected that they’ll continue to be fired up for this trip to Ferrara against rock bottom SPAL, who are fresh from a 5-1 drubbing at Lazio.

That’s not to say the goals will necessarily all go Sassuolo’s way, as Andrea Petagna is back from suspension and the Neroverdi rarely keep a clean sheet. It’s a lunchtime match, both teams will feel the need to go for it and that means goals.

Best bet for SPAL vs. Sassuolo: Over 3.5 Goals at 23/10 with Bet Victor
