Serie A tips of the week: Don’t underestimate Sassuolo against Inter

Sassuolo and Inter club crests ahead of their Serie A fixture

The more we get into the season proper, we see the initial crazy goalfests fall by the wayside. It was to be expected that trend wouldn’t last long, no matter how entertaining and chaotic it was. We are also into the full swing of European football and that takes its toll on teams who don’t have the biggest squads or are struggling to balance their resources. Seeing Sassuolo given such big odds to beat Inter is one of those gambles you’ve just got to take, because they clearly haven’t been looking at recent form. Then there are some matches not worth the risk because they can be so unpredictable, like Napoli vs. Roma, or the potential for Atalanta and Hellas Verona to cancel each other out between two very similar coaches. Finding value is good, being confident of a result is better.

Spectacular Sassuolo

Sassuolo vs. Inter – Saturday November 28, Mapei Stadium, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Sometimes you see odds for a game and wonder if they just looked at the club names, completely ignoring recent form, injury news or motivation. You can get 7/2 odds on Sassuolo beating Inter on Saturday afternoon. That is ridiculous. The Neroverdi are unbeaten this season, sit in second place and have been able to focus on this fixture whereas Inter are shaken following Wednesday’s Champions League home defeat to Real Madrid. These odds don’t make the slightest bit of sense.

Best bet for Sassuolo vs. Inter: Sassuolo to win at 7/2 on 888 Sport

Bologna break the curse

Bologna vs. Crotone – Sunday November 29, Stadio Dall’Ara, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

If there’s one thing we can rely on in 2020, it’s Bologna conceding goals. They have not kept a clean sheet in 41 consecutive Serie A matches and are one shy of matching the all-time top five European League record set by Bordeaux in 1960. Having said that, I’m going to tip something truly shocking: Bologna might avoid conceding. They’ve improved lately and Crotone are more likely than anyone to fire blanks.

Best bet for Bologna vs. Crotone: Bologna win to nil at 5/2 with Bet Victor

Fatigue meets fear

Milan vs. Fiorentina – Sunday November 29, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Wow, Fiorentina are bad. I underestimated just how rotten to the core this team is and bringing in Cesare Prandelli has so far not helped. The Viola are frozen with fear of a mistake and so do nothing at all. Milan are stretched increasingly thin by the Europa League and Serie A, so with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Rafael Leao and Alexis Saelemaekers out, options are limited. I trust they’ll get the job done, but Fiorentina will sit there like a boring brick wall.

Best bet for Milan vs. Fiorentina: Under 2.5 Goals at 5/4 with Bet Victor

Serie A Week 9 accumulator

Torino to beat Sampdoria

Lazio to beat Udinese and 3 or more goals in the match

Over 2.5 Goals in Cagliari vs. Spezia

Both teams to score in Sassuolo vs. Inter
