Serie A tips of the week: Eventually Juventus-Inter

Juventus vs. Inter, Serie A

Football Italia Editor Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

As the Coronavirus scare takes hold, from now until April 3 all the games will be played behind closed doors, which effectively negates home advantage. That includes the Scudetto showdown between leaders Juventus and third-placed Inter, while Udinese-Fiorentina, Milan-Genoa, Parma-SPAL and Sassuolo-Brescia are also finally played a week late after some unforgivable faffing about threatened to ruin the entire season. So forgive the sense of deja vu, but it’s Week 26 again.

Lazio have already taken advantage of the situation by going top of the table, while Atalanta and Roma can put their feet up and rest this weekend too.

Unusual Derby d’Italia

Juventus vs. Inter – Sunday March 8, Allianz Juventus Stadium, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

It’s deeply sad to see one of the biggest fixtures of the whole season played in front of empty stands, but the Coronavirus outbreak makes public safety paramount. This is going to be a very unusual Derby d’Italia for so many reasons, as home advantage will be irrelevant behind closed doors, Antonio Conte won’t face a raucous reception from his old fans and both teams are on pretty poor form. They also spent the last week arguing over whether to play the game at all, do it behind closed doors or with only local fans.

Inter have beaten Juventus only once in their last 14 Serie A meetings, with the last away victory coming in November 2012. A Nerazzurri surprise at 23/10 could well be worth a punt, but let’s err on the side of caution and go for Both Teams to Score.

Best bet for Juventus vs. Inter: Both Teams to Score at 8/11 with 888 Sport

Rebic Repeat

Milan vs. Genoa – Sunday March 1, San Siro, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

This is another game postponed from last week, but whereas that was meant to be an 11.30am kick-off, it has now been moved to the afternoon. What we can probably count on is Ante Rebic finding the net for the fourth match in a row. The Croatian has found his niche in Stefano Pioli’s adapted 4-4-2 formation and all opponents struggle with his forays forward.

Rebic has often been the breakthrough for the Rossoneri, so the odds of him scoring the first goal at 4/1 look pretty enticing.

Best bet for Milan vs. Genoa: Ante Rebic to score first at 4/1 with William Hill

Sassuolo back on song

Sassuolo vs. Brescia – Monday March 9, Mapei Stadium, Kick-off: 5.30pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

If there’s a team that probably won’t be affected by playing behind closed doors, it’s Sassuolo, as they usually have such small crowds anyway. Add in that they’ve had two weeks between games because the fixture before this was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak too, and Roberto De Zerbi will have worked them mercilessly in training.

Brescia will probably pay the price for the constant chopping and changing of coaches, as President Massimo Cellino proves he never learns from past mistakes. Mario Balotelli just isn’t the figure who can drag them out of the relegation zone and Sandro Tonali can only do so much.

Best bet for Sassuolo vs. Brescia: Over 2.5 Goals by Home Team at 21/10 on 888 Sport

Serie A week 26 accumulator

Udinese vs. Fiorentina – Under 2.5 Goals at 4/6

Parma vs. SPAL – Over 3.5 Goals at 9/4

Sassuolo to beat Brescia at 7/10

Milan vs. Genoa – Both Teams to Score at 4/5

Select these four bets as an accumulator for combined odds of 15.57/1 at William Hill
