Serie A tips of the week: Genoa derby delight

Genoa and Sampdoria badges ahead of their Serie A fixture

Football Italia’s Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

For more than 20 years, Susy Campanale has been at the forefront of Italian football coverage for Football Italia. With a unique level of experience and expertise covering Serie A, Susy casts an expert eye across the latest round of action, exclusively with Eurotips.

There are some things you learn from decades of watching Italian football and one of those is that midweek rounds are full of goals. Packed to the brim, usually, and we have some fixtures more than capable of providing those Overs.

Milan and Napoli surprisingly rediscovered their form all of a sudden at the weekend, after several dismal performances, while I was right about Cagliari getting their new coach boost under Leonardo Semplici. Now Serse Cosmi makes his debut on the Crotone bench against an Atalanta side distracted by the upcoming Inter showdown, but the Squali still give the impression of being utterly toothless.

Juve stuttering

Juventus vs. Spezia – Tuesday March 2, Allianz Stadium, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

I think I’ve finally figured Spezia out. They have a far superior record against teams in the top half of the table because they struggle against defend-and-counter types. Juventus want to build out from the back and keep possession, but that’s Vincenzo Italiano’s plan too, so this should be a surprisingly even battle. Plus, their top scorer M’Bala Nzola gets his first start since January 11.

Best bet for Juventus vs. Spezia: Both Teams to Score at 19/20 with 888 Sport

Derby della Lanterna

Genoa vs. Sampdoria – Wednesday March 3, Stadio Ferraris, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

The importance of this fixture was made evident by both teams resting their best players at the weekend and it’s worth far more than just three points. Pride is at stake and Genoa quite frankly have the momentum, losing only twice under Davide Ballardini – a coach who has never lost his four Derby della Lanterna outings. Genoa knocked Samp out of the Coppa Italia and should not be available at 2/1 to win this.

Sardinian shoot-out

Cagliari vs. Bologna – Wednesday March 3, Sardegna Arena, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Cagliari got their first win since November 7 on Leonardo Semplici’s debut and the new coach boost is still active as they go into this midweek round. Bologna are in good shape too, but this is one of those games you can see providing goals, especially as both are missing key defenders through suspension.

Best bet for Cagliari vs. Bologna: Over 2.5 Goals at 5/6 on 888 Sport

Serie A Week 25 accumulator

Under 2.5 Goals in Benevento vs. Verona
