Serie A tips of the week: Inviting Immobile and fiery Juventus-Fiorentina

Juventus vs. Fiorentina, Serie A

Football Italia Editor Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

The Scudetto race was blown wide open last week, as none of the top four managed a victory. Juventus fell for the second time this season at Napoli and their lead was cut to three points, so the pressure is on against their hated rivals Fiorentina. Inter stalled with a third consecutive 1-1 draw, but ought to turn that tide in Udine, while Lazio can resume their winning streak with bottom of the table SPAL.

There’s value all over this weekend, including Cagliari getting back to a win after six rounds, Lecce celebrating their first home victory of the season and a low tempo Sampdoria vs. Napoli.

Immobile back in business

Lazio vs. SPAL – Sunday February 2, Stadio Olimpico, Kick-off: 3pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

SPAL tripped Lazio up when these sides met earlier in the season, but they travel to Rome without suspended Andrea Petagna – who contributed half their total tally of goals – and Mattia Valoti. Still, Leonardo Semplici’s men only ever seem to excel when they are expected to fail, so a victory here at odds of up to 12/1 could be fun. Even just laying Lazio is worth value.

After all, Lazio’s Serie A winning streak came to an end at 11 in the Rome derby and they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by Napoli. Are Simone Inzaghi’s men running out of steam following that extraordinary couple of months?

A more reliable bet would be on Ciro Immobile to rediscover his scoring touch. It may seem daft to suggest someone who netted 23 in 20 Serie A games, 26 in 27 competitive matches, has lost his form, but he traditionally struggles in the big games and runs wild against weaker sides. SPAL are a weak side and his favourite victims, as since their return to the top flight in 2017-18, Immobile put seven goals past them. Expect more.

Best bet for Lazio vs. SPAL: Ciro Immobile to score 2 or more at 29/10 with 888Sport

First time for Lecce

Lecce vs. Torino – Sunday February 2, Stadio Via del Mare, Kick-off: 5pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Lecce have not won a single Serie A home game this season, usually a record that would put them in the relegation zone, but they’ve got a great opportunity here to end that taboo.

Torino were hammered 7-0 by Atalanta last week, then gave everything they had left in the Coppa Italia quarter-final with Milan on Tuesday. They were minutes away from victory when Hakan Calhanoglu equalised, leading to a 4-2 result in extra time and demolishing what little self-esteem was remaining. Walter Mazzarri is inexplicably still at the helm, but he goes into this game with an exhausted team, plus Armando Izzo and Sasa Lukic suspended, Cristiano Ansaldi, Daniele Baselli and Simone Zaza injured.

Even Lecce should be able to make the most of this situation and register their debut home victory.

Just what Juventus need

Juventus vs. Fiorentina – Sunday February 2, Allianz Juventus Stadium, Kick-off: 11.30am

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

There are a few things you learn from watching Serie A for many years and one of those is the early Sunday kick-off will be very entertaining. There’s something about the lunchtime match that sparks both teams into life. Maybe it’s going straight from your morning espresso to the pitch.

Anyway, this is a fixture that ought to get the blood boiling regardless of the kick-off time. Juventus and Fiorentina positively hate each other with a rivalry that goes back decades. The Bianconeri are fresh off their second Serie A defeat of the season, a shock setback at Napoli, and are bound to react with vehemence to prove that sluggish performance was a mere blip.

In turn, the Viola need no extra motivation when facing Juve, are unbeaten in Serie A since Beppe Iachini took over and have key defenders Nikola Milenkovic and Martin Caceres suspended. All of this points to goals, very likely most of them from the Old Lady.

Best bet for Juventus vs. Fiorentina: Over 3.5 Goals at 8/5 with Bet Victor
