Serie A tips of the week: Juventus tested in the capital

Roma and Juventus club crests ahead of their Serie A fixture on September 27

Football Italia’s Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

For more than 20 years, Susy Campanale has been at the forefront of Italian football coverage for Football Italia. With a unique level of experience and expertise covering Serie A, Susy casts an expert eye across the latest round of action, exclusively with Eurotips.

After last week’s truncated round, we finally have the full complement of 10 fixtures to choose from when placing a bet. Choice is everything when you’re trying to pick the best odds and the more matches there are, the more likely an intriguing story has fallen through the cracks.

We get the first games of the season for Scudetto candidates Inter, Lazio and Atalanta, while Udinese have been absolutely shocking during the summer friendlies and Torino are still a long way off finding their feet under new coach Marco Giampaolo.

Milan lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic to COVID-19, Napoli finally look set to launch Victor Osimhen and there’s a fascinating if potentially unpredictable Roma-Juventus, with Edin Dzeko not knowing which jersey he’d be wearing in this match up until a few days ago.

Dzeko has a point to prove

Roma vs. Juventus – Sunday September 27, Stadio Olimpico, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Andrea Pirlo got off to a perfect start in his coaching career, but although it was the sharpest and most fluid Juve have looked in over a year, it was against a very poor Sampdoria team. This is a far tougher prospect, especially considering Edin Dzeko very nearly joined the Bianconeri only a few days ago and Alvaro Morata probably isn’t ready to start. The pressure is on Roma after an administrative error cost them a point with Verona and they’ll press considerably more than Samp ever did.

Best bet for Roma vs. Juventus: Both teams to score at 8/13 with William Hill

Unimpressive Udinese

Verona vs. Udinese – Sunday September 27, Stadio Bentegodi, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Although their game with Roma ended 0-0 last week, it became a 3-0 Verona victory due to an irregularly fielded player by the Giallorossi. Udinese saw their Week 1 fixture delayed until September 30 and it’s just as well, because their pre-season performances have been absolutely abysmal. Struggling even against Serie C teams, it looks like another campaign battling relegation for the Friulani.

Best bet for Verona vs. Udinese: Verona to win at 17/10 with Bet Victor

Inter too solid for the Viola

Inter vs. Fiorentina – Sunday September 27, Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Antonio Conte’s men were given an extra week to begin their Serie A campaign, having reached the Europa League Final just over a month ago. Expect them to be as well-drilled as ever, with added Arturo Vidal in midfield and Achraf Hakimi pace on the wing. Fiorentina beat Torino in their opener, but struggled as usual to convert their many chances into goals, so it’s safe to assume they won’t be able to breach last term’s best defence.

Best bet for Inter vs. Fiorentina: Inter to win to nil at 9/5 with 888 Sport
