Spezia and Lazio club crests ahead of their Serie A fixture

The Champions League and Europa League are increasingly taking their toll on some teams and leaving others fresh as a daisy with no midweek commitments. This will inevitably affect the form of sides like Lazio, Napoli, Roma and Milan who don’t have the biggest squads to choose from. Injuries are beginning to pile up, COVID cases are on the rise with an outbreak at Cagliari, and Spezia continue to be immensely entertaining. Alvaro Morata’s ban puts even more onus on Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver for Juventus in the Derby della Mole, but Toro are so weak that it’s probably not going to make that much difference. Missing Simon Kjaer, however, could be a body blow for the Milan defence.

Spezia surprise

Spezia vs. Lazio – Saturday December 5, Orogel Stadium, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

This is another one of those situations where the odds simply do not reflect current form or fatigue, but merely look at the names of the clubs. Spezia are in their first ever Serie A season, but they are a very impressive outfit, despite all their injuries. Lazio lost 3-1 to Udinese last week and ran themselves ragged in the Champions League showdown with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night. That job’s not done yet either, so squad rotation is a must. While Over 3.5 Goals is intriguing at 17/10, I still think a Spezia victory at 9/2 is too tempting to pass up.

Best bet for Spezia vs. Lazio: Spezia to win at 9/2 on Bet Victor

Lunchtime entertainment

Verona vs. Cagliari – Sunday December 6, Stadio Bentegodi, Kick-off: 11.30am

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

It’s not a cast-iron guarantee, but more often than not, the Sunday lunchtime kick-off in Serie A is an absolute humdinger. It doesn’t seem to matter who is playing, they will usually provide plenty of goals. When those teams are Hellas Verona and a Cagliari side increasingly affected by COVID cases, it’s bound to live up to its billing.

Best bet for Verona vs. Cagliari: Over 3.5 Goals at 9/5 with 888 Sport

Roma rarely dull

Roma vs. Sassuolo – Sunday December 6, Stadio Olimpico, Kick-off: 2.00pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Roma continue to miss half their defence and are not exactly solid at the best of times, while Sassuolo are known for their all or nothing approach. The melding of styles should lead to an entertaining encounter with plenty of goals, and while the Neroverdi are losing some of their early season sparkle, they’re up against a Giallorossi side stretched thin. Both sides are coming off heavy defeats after long periods of success in Serie A and will be eager to make up for that.

Best bet for Roma vs. Sassuolo: Over 3.5 Goals at 21/20 with Bet Victor
