There’s nothing like a midweek round to send a chill down the Serie A livebloggers’ spine, because this is when there are six games simultaneously and they all go goal crazy. It’s honestly hard to keep up during these events and you’d be hard pressed to find a match where I wouldn’t suggest Overs – except Fiorentina-Sassuolo, which has 0-1 written all over it. The longer people keep assuming the Viola will magically discover a way out of their nightmare campaign, the longer we can keep taking advantage of the odds.
I have, sadly, given up on Spezia, they let me down too many times now, but I still see a ludicrous number of goals between them and fellow enemies of the clean sheet, Bologna. However, I won’t go near Juventus vs. Atalanta, because it’s far too unpredictable to place a meaningful bet. Gian Piero Gasperini is bound to use his Champions League approach, especially in an away fixture, and that could pour cold water over the previous goal festivals between these sides.

Equal Inter-Napoli
Inter vs. Napoli – Wednesday December 16, Stadio Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Sometimes in betting, as in life, you have to just trust your instinct. Mine is telling me Inter and Napoli are both in fine form, both have weaknesses, but I don’t see either of them losing this. That leaves only one response and that is a draw. You can get some excellent odds on that eventuality, better than going for Over 3.5 Goals and certainly for Both Teams to Score.
Best bet for Inter vs. Napoli: Draw at 27/10 on 888 Sport
Super Sassuolo
Fiorentina vs. Sassuolo – Wednesday December 16, Stadio Franchi, Kick-off: 7.45pm
Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming
There is no reason on earth why Sassuolo should be trading at 19/10 for a win in Florence. The Neroverdi are on spectacular form, other than the aberration of the 3-0 with Inter, and kept five clean sheets in their last six games. They are up against a Fiorentina side who cannot get out of their funk and scored one goal in six rounds. I see this being very low-scoring, so Under 2.5 Goals is also a good bet, but Sassuolo are at outlandish odds for the victory.
Best bet for Fiorentina vs. Sassuolo: Sassuolo to win at 19/10 with Bet Victor
Wild Spezia-Bologna
Spezia vs. Bologna – Wednesday December 16, Stadio Picco, Kick-off: 7.45pm

There are a few things I’ve learned from watching Serie A for decades, and that is midweek rounds bring a lot of goals. Add in Spezia and Bologna, who are entirely averse to clean sheets, and the fact the hosts are for the first time playing in their actual home stadium this season, and you have a recipe for entertainment. Honestly, Over 3.5 Goals is being conservative.
Best bet for Spezia vs. Bologna: Over 3.5 Goals at 13/8 with William Hill
