Serie A tips of the week: Milan stronger than setbacks

Milan and Lazio club crests

Football Italia’s Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of the week…

For more than 20 years, Susy Campanale has been at the forefront of Italian football coverage for Football Italia. With a unique level of experience and expertise covering Serie A, Susy casts an expert eye across the latest round of action, exclusively with Eurotips.

It doesn’t seem to matter how many Milan players are out of action, they still keep picking up points and even made history with the fastest ever Serie A goal against Sassuolo last week: 6.76 seconds. Franck Kessie’s ban is a major blow, but I don’t trust Lazio to truly cause an upset here, although the draw is tempting.

I’m betting on goals again during this final round of 2020, a midweek special with almost all the fixtures on Wednesday evening. Verona vs. Inter is another one of those games I’m not happy to gamble on, because too much could change depending on an early goal and Hellas are desperately lacking a decent striker.

Decimated Milan

Milan vs. Lazio – Wednesday December 23, Stadio Meazza, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

The Rossoneri cling on to the leadership despite stuttering in recent weeks and keep pushing through their injury crisis. This’ll be their biggest test so far, because along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Matteo Gabbia, now Franck Kessie is also suspended. I cannot tell you how big a loss this is for Milan. The average wins are halved in his absence since he joined the club. If Sandro Tonali isn’t fully fit either, there’s a huge gap in that midfield. Yet Lazio aren’t at their best either, so while I’d recommend laying Milan, Overs represents another good tip.

Best bet for Milan vs. Lazio: Over 3.5 Goals at 17/10 on Bet Victor

Atalanta are back

Bologna vs. Atalanta – Wednesday December 23, Stadio Dall’Ara, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

It was like a dam breaking when Atalanta let loose on Roma in the second half, shaking off all the Papu Gomez controversy and Champions League strain. This is the time when La Dea tend to start surging up the table and Bologna are their ideal victims – incapable of defending or keeping a clean sheet. If Josip Ilicic starts, and he probably will, there should be no hope for the Rossoblu.

Best bet for Bologna vs. Atalanta: Over 3.5 Goals at 5/4 with 888 Sport

Samp to stun Sassuolo

Sampdoria vs. Sassuolo – Wednesday December 23, Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Samp are a very moody team, they go through positive and negative streaks, and right now they are on the up after being dire throughout November. They are also counter-attacking masters and that makes them ideal foes for a possession-based side like Sassuolo, who are looking a little toothless of late. Expect the Neroverdi to dominate the ball at Marassi and still lose.

Best bet for Sampdoria vs. Sassuolo: Sampdoria to win at 13/8 with 888 Sport
