Serie A tips of the week: Napoli and Juventus to get an early goal

Napoli vs. Juventus, Serie A

Football Italia Editor Susy Campanale takes you through the best Serie A bets of Week 21…

It’s a massive weekend in the Serie A fixture list, as the Derby della Capitale is also a head-to-head for fourth place between two form teams, Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus visit his old club Napoli and Inter try to end their two-round winless streak against Cagliari. Meanwhile, Atalanta aim to recover from a shock as they visit Torino, Fiorentina build momentum against rock bottom Genoa and Milan rely on Zlatan Ibrahimovic inspiration in Brescia to climb their way back into the race for European qualification.

Hard-fought Rome Derby

Roma vs. Lazio – Sunday January 26, Stadio Olimpico, Kick-off: 5pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

These bitter local rivals face off during strong periods of form, Lazio with 11 Serie A wins in a row, Roma now solidly in fourth place. Both are out of the Coppa Italia and can focus all their energy on clinching that precious Champions League spot.

This is one of those games where two very attack-minded teams who are highly-motivated will go head-to-head and you assume this has to lead to a spectacular goalfest. In reality, we tend to see them cancel each other out and more often than not end in a low-scoring draw.

A useful side-bet could be placed on there being a red card, or at least an abundance of yellows, as this fixture is always a battle royal.

Early drama at the San Paolo

Napoli vs. Juventus – Sunday January 26, Stadio San Paolo, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

This is going to be a fascinating match for neutrals as well as committed Serie A fans. Maurizio Sarri returns to the San Paolo for the first time as an opponent, with Gonzalo Higuain in tow, a Cristiano Ronaldo who has scored in seven consecutive league games and Napoli finally showing some fight in their surprise Coppa Italia win over Lazio midweek.

That Coppa tie was positively crazy, with a goal, missed penalty and two red cards in the opening 25 minutes. With the ultras back to cheer them on after a protest and turn the arena into a cauldron, we should see both teams come flying out the blocks. Napoli want to repeat their start against Fiorentina and can be vulnerable on the counter-attack.

Game of two halves

Torino vs. Atalanta – Saturday January 25, Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Kick-off: 7.45pm

Watch live on Premier Sports/Streaming

Here we have a battle between the team capable of fumbling more or less any lead – including 3-0 to draw 3-3 with Hellas Verona – and the comeback kings of Serie A. Torino always fall away in the last 45-30 minutes and Atalanta step up the pressure in the closing stages.

There are a few alternatives on how to make the most of this situation. We could bet on Torino winning the first half, or even just scoring the first goal, and Atalanta winning the second. Considering Hans Hateboer is back and Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are shaken by their surprise defeats to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia and SPAL in Serie A, I’m prepared to bet on Atalanta winning from behind for a tempting 15/2.

Best bet for Lecce vs. Inter: Atalanta to win from behind at 15/2 with Bet Victor
