Sevilla v Villarreal Predictions and Preview
Although Sevilla and Villarreal finished fifth and sixth respectively in last season’s La Liga table, 10 points separated the two clubs in the final reckoning. Sevilla can draw level on points with the Yellow Submarine should they win this clash at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but the away team are looking to affirm a shift in power between these two clubs as we head towards the second half of this campaign.
Villarreal come into the game on the back of a wonderful 18-match unbeaten run. El Submarino Amarillo have only lost once in all competitions so far this term – a 4-0 defeat against Barcelona at the Nou Camp in September – winning five of their 12 La Liga fixtures since, drawing the other seven.
Unai Emery has made his new team tough to beat, although this is likely to be a stern test for the visitors. Sevilla may have already lost four times in La Liga this term, but they’re unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, winning four of those. Los Nervionenses may also have a slight home advantage in this Sevilla v Villarreal preview, but they don’t have a very good record in this fixture.

Villarreal are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Sevilla, winning two. Julen Lopetegui’s side have only won one of their last eight against their visitors on Tuesday, with their last home win in the fixture coming back in March 2016. Sevilla are 11/9 to put that record right, from their perspective, by winning this match.
The away team are priced at 13/5 with a selection of the best betting sites, and that could prove to be excellent value. However, given the number of draws Villarreal have been involved with over recent weeks and months, another stalemate here is well worth a look at 12/5.
One to watch for Sevilla: Lucas Ocampos is a real threat for Sevilla, although he’s yet to hit the goalscoring heights of last season. The Argentine will be looking to change that in these Sevilla v Villarreal predictions.
One to watch for Villarreal: Gerard Moreno, on the other hand, has been in superb form in front of goal this season. The Spanish attacker has eight goals in 13 La Liga appearances, with four of those coming from the penalty spot.
Long shot: Sevilla’s last home win against Villarreal was a 4-2 triumph in 2016. This game has the potential for fireworks, with an over 5.5 goals bet priced at 21/1. Another 4-2 Sevilla win is a massive 120/1, but as we’re predicting a score draw, perhaps a 3-3 scoreline could be on the cards at 110/1.
