Serie A basement club SPAL host Inter and are running out of time to retain their top flight status. Luigi Di Biagio’s group need a minimum of four wins from their final six matches to have any chance of beating the drop and need to improve dramatically in all areas of the pitch.

SPAL vs. Inter Predictions and Preview
Hosts SPAL have only won five games all year. Di Biagio’s squad face a titanic task to avoid the drop and the Italian will once again task Andrea Petagna with the goalscoring mantle. The Napoli owned hitman has a very commendable 12 strikes to his name and is 9/2 to net anytime. The strugglers are 6/1 to pull off a priceless victory and the draw is 7/2.
Inter have gone from competing with Juventus in a two-horse race for the Scudetto to battling for third. Fortunately for Antonio Conte and his dejected troops, the Nerazzurri have a substantial cushion over arch rivals Milan and Napoli and will be playing in the Champions League next term.
The Milan giants’ quest for the title has ultimately come unstuck due to some uncharacteristic defending. Conte, famed for an impenetrable three-man defence, has seen his side squander the lead twice in the closing ten minutes against Sassuolo, an advantage at home to Bologna and an 86th minute equaliser away at Verona.

On current form, Atalanta would be favourites for the runners-up berth but Inter have the ideal opponent to lay down a marker for the run-in. Conte will go with first-choice pairing Martinez and Romelu Lukaku up top despite some below par displays.
The Argentine has been ineffectual since the resumption in play and has been affected by the constant rumours surrounding his future. Martinez continues to be linked with Barcelona but will get his chances against the rock bottom Spallini. The diminutive attacker is 15/4 to open proceedings while top scorer Lukaku is 11/4 in the same betting.
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez, who has looked bright in recent showings, is 6/4 to score anytime. The Manchester United owned forward is still trying to secure an extension to his season-long loan and the latest reports are promising as the two clubs seek to thrash out a deal. Inter are 1/3 to get back on track.
One to watch for SPAL: Skipper Sergio Floccari hit a 40-yard wonder-goal against Milan and while he can’t play for 90 minutes, will still have a role to play after the break. The veteran is 12/1 in the same market.
One to watch for Inter: Only Lukaku and Martinez have scored more than Antonio Candreva and the versatile midfielder deserves game time next year irrespective of Achraf Hakimi’s impending arrival. The 33-year-old is 17/2 to bag last.
Long shot: Inter may have their problems defensively, but Conte still has two elite centre-forwards and a midfield brimming with talent. Lukaku and Martinez have contributed 41 goals and seven assists and the Belgian has historically fared well against sides near the foot of the table throughout his career. An emphatic 4-0 success for the Nerazzurri is 16/1.
