SPAL v Juventus Predictions and Preview

SPAL have endured a torrid campaign, winning just four of their 24 matches. The Biancazzurri have lost 9 of the last 11, resulting in Leonardo Semplici losing his job and the outgoing tactician has since been replaced by Luigi Di Biagio.

The statistics do not look good for SPAL, who have scored the fewest number in the division and boast the weakest goal difference and the former Italy Under-21 Manager has an uphill battle on his hands.

Andrea Petagna is the Biancazzurri’s chief goal threat and was a target for Napoli in the winter. The burly hitman has a hugely impressive nine efforts to his name, exactly half of SPAL’s haul for the season and is 11/5 to net anytime.

Petagna is down the pecking order in Roberto Mancini’s thinking for a place at this EURO 2020 but a strong showing against two world class centre-halves would put him in good contention. Di Biagio’s men are 8/1 to pull off a shock success and the draw is 15/4.

Visitors Juventus will have enjoyed watching the epic tussle between Lazio and Inter on Matchday 24 knowing at least one outfit would drop points. The Bianconeri hold a solitary one-point lead ahead of the capital club in what is now an exhilarating three horse race for the Scudetto.

Gonzalo Higuain is expected to make way for Ronaldo who was rested for the 2-0 triumph against Brescia. The Portuguese icon is 21/10 to open proceedings and 15/2 to hit a hat-trick. Juventus are 4/11 to clinch the spoils at the final whistle.

One to watch for SPAL: Federico Di Francesco, who was involved in an ugly spat with Douglas Costa last year, will link up with Petagna in attack and is 3/1 to score anytime.

One to watch for Juventus: The Bianconeri midfield has come in for a lot of criticism in recent weeks and there are certainly places up for grabs. Adrien Rabiot is 10/3 to register anytime.

Long shot: Juventus may sit at the top of the standings, but the title race feels different this campaign. Lazio are in unstoppable form, while Inter cannot be ruled out of the equation despite their setback in Rome. The upcoming clash may suit the Bianconeri, the masters of grinding out a result, and a 2-1 away win, with SPAL to score first, is 7/1.
