Massimiliano Allegri’s second stint at Juventus starts on Sunday when the Old Lady visit Udinese for their Serie A opener at the Dacia Arena. Cristiano Ronaldo seems set to remain for at least another season in Turin, while Udinese will face the tough task of replacing Rodrigo de Paul, who left for Atletico Madrid.

Udinese v Juventus Predictions and Preview
Despite clinching fourth place in the final round last term, Juventus decided to change direction once again. After spending two years without a club, Massimiliano Allegri was brought back to replace Andrea Pirlo, who was sacked despite winning two trophies in his debut season as a coach.
Despite being heavily linked with a move away from Turin, Cristiano Ronaldo is set for another season at the club and this will serve as a huge boost for Juventus. Paulo Dybala’s injury crisis seems to finally be over and the Argentinian is expected to extend his contract, while 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy Kaio Jorge was added to an already impressive attack that also contains the likes of Federico Chiesa, Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Bernardeschi.
After chasing Manuel Locatelli all summer, Juventus finally announced the arrival of the 23-year-old midfielder on loan from Sassuolo with an obligation to buy for £30m. Miralem Pjanic has also been linked with a return to Turin, but the Bianconeri need to free some space before they can bring in another midfielder.
Despite the fact that no other major signings are expected before the end of the transfer window, Allegri has a fantastic squad at his disposal. Therefore, it’s no surprise to see Juventus being firm 10/11 favourites to win the Scudetto this year, especially after champions Inter lost Antonio Conte, Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.

Juventus to win
Over 2.5 goals
Ronaldo to score first
Despite suffering immensely under Pirlo last term, Juventus managed a double over Udinese, as the Old Lady defeated Luca Gotti’s men 4-1 in Turin, before earning a hard-fought 2-1 victory at the Dacia Arena.
Udinese have just one victory over Juventus in their last 12 games. The Friulians have managed only one draw during that stretch and have amassed 10 defeats.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a combined total of four goals between the two games last season, so it’s no surprise to see the Serie A top scorer being a 15/8 favourite to break the deadlock on Sunday.
Udinese, meanwhile, struggled throughout the majority of the 2020-21 season and finished 14th. However, the Friulians lost arguably their two best players as top goalscorer and assist provider Rodrigo de Paul was sold to Atletico Madrid for £30m, while their first-choice goalkeeper Juan Musso joined Atalanta for £17m.
Considering all of the above, it is no surprise to see Juventus being strong 1/2 favourites with William Hill to start off their campaign with a win in Udine. The draw is priced at 3/1, while an unlikely victory for the hosts can be backed at 13/2.
One to watch for Udinese: Roberto Pereyra will have to step up a level after Rodrigo de Paul’s departure. Pereyra, an ex-Juventus player, scored five Serie A goals last term and will be eager to prove his worth against his former club. The Argentinian’s quick feet always pose a threat and he is 12/1 to score the opener at the Dacia Arena.
One to watch for Juventus: Cristiano Ronaldo’s 29 league strikes saw him grab the Capocannoniere prize for the first time in his career last term. The Portuguese superstar was heavily linked with a move away from Juventus, but he is set to remain for at least another year. CR7 scored a brace in his last outing against Udinese and is the 15/8 favourite to break the deadlock on Sunday.
Long shot: Juventus defeated Udinese 2-1 back in May and a repeat of that scenario is priced at 15/2. If you are looking for even bigger odds, you can pair this with Cristiano Ronaldo to score the opener which will bring the combined odds to 47/2.
