Barcelona will look to continue their winning start to their defence of this season’s La Liga title with a trip to newly-promoted Real Valladolid on Saturday. Sergio’s side went up via the playoffs in June and earned a dogged 0-0 draw at Girona on the opening day but the visitors will be massive favourites to build on their opening day victory over Alaves.

Last time: The last time these sides clashed produced a memorable victory for hosts Valladolid, who defeated the Catalan giants 1-0 in March 2014 thanks to Fausto Rossi’s strike. It wasn’t enough to save the club from relegation but is still fondly remembered by their fans.

Valladolid vs. Barcelona Predictions and Preview
Both these sides will have felt satisfaction after their opening round of results with each obtaining their desired result.
For Barcelona, they were initially frustrated by a stubborn Alaves before running out 3-0 victors with late goals while newly-promoted Valladolid obtained a respectable point at Girona.
Predictably, the Blaugrana are massive favourites to win this game at odds of 1/5 with a shock home victory available at 16/1 and the draw priced at 7/1.
This game looks set to be dominated by long spells of Barca possession against a deep-lying home defence, who will exercise great caution. Under 2.5 goals is available at 9/5 while fewer than 1.5 goals is at 5/1.
However, there is no shortage of firepower and attacking talent on the pitch for the visiting side and so over 2.5 goals may appear to offer value at 4/9, although goals are going to be a potential major issue for the hosts throughout the season.
A ‘double chance’ on Villarreal to battle their way to either a draw or a win is available at 9/2 while a Barca win/draw outcome is at 1/20.
If you fancy the visitors to be leading at both half-time and at the final whistle, such odds are available at 4/6 while if you fancy Ernesto Valverde’s side to win to nil – that is at 5/6.
One to watch for Valladolid: Turkish international striker Enes Unal has arrived on loan at the club from Villarreal and he netted five goals in La Liga last season, including in a loan spell at Levante. He is priced at 23/5 to score anytime here.
One to watch for Barcelona: Lionel Messi is already up and running in La Liga with two goals in the opening day victory over Alaves. He is tipped to continue his remarkable run in the division – 385 goals in 417 appearances – and is priced at at 6/13.
Long shot: Valladolid did not threaten the score at Girona but held on with a valiant defensive display, which they will need against their illustrious opponents. A scoreless draw in this game is an outset bet available at odds of 25/1.
