Off-form Milan will look to build on their recent win over Bologna and attempt to revive their season as they travel to lowly Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. Gennaro Gattuso’s men will be favourites for the clash despite winning only three of their last 11 league matches.
Where and when: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi – 17 December, kick-off 11:30
Where you can see Verona v Milan: BT Sport, bet365 live streaming
Last time: This will be the second meeting between the two in the space of four days after Milan defeated Verona 3-0 in a Coppa Italia fixture on Wednesday. The last league clash, in April 2016, ended in a 2-1 win for the Gialloblu but it was not enough to stop their relegation the following month.
Verona v Milan Predictions and Preview
Milan’s league season has been underwhelming at best and disastrous at worst – they sit 16 points off leaders and fierce rivals Inter, and are 11 points adrift of the top four.
Last week’s home victory over Bologna was only their third league win in their last 11 attempts and they are now looking to record back-to-back league victories for the first time since September.
Verona’s campaign has been even worse, the newly-promoted club have triumphed only twice and lost 10 of their opening 16 games.
Oddo – a former Milan full-back – has seen his side lose each of their last three home matches, although a recent victory at Sassuolo may prove important and they are only two points from safety.
They have a strong recent Serie A record against Sunday’s visitors and are unbeaten in their last three clashes (prior to their midweek Copa defeat) including a win at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi 20 months ago.
The bookmakers have made the visitors heavy favourites for all three points with odds of 8/13, while an unlikely home victory is priced at an outlandish 5/1 and a draw is available at 10/3.
Value may be found in Milan leading at both half time and full time, priced at 13/8, or in backing against both teams scoring – Verona have averaged less than a goal a game – available at 13/10.
One to watch for Verona: Giampaolo Pazzini has netted four league goals this season – including against Milan’s city rivals Inter – and scored in the last league meeting between the two. Formerly of both Milan clubs, and is priced at 11/4 to score anytime in this fixture.
One to watch for Milan: Spanish winger Suso is Milan’s top scorer this season with seven goals – five have arrived in Serie A – and he netted in Wednesday’s Coppa clash between the two. He is available at 23/10 to find the net at any point in this game.
Long shot: Only bottom club Benevento have conceded more goals than Verona (32) in Serie A this season while Milan have conceded more than double the amount of three of the top four. Over 5.5 goals in this encounter is available at 10/1.
