Last time: West Ham and Brighton shared a six-goal thriller at the London Stadium in February. The Hammers twice let a two-goal lead slip to end up with only a point, courtesy of two late Brighton strikes which earned the Seagulls a 3-3 draw.

West Ham v Brighton Predictions and Preview

The entertaining stalemate between West Ham and Brighton earlier this year was the third score draw in a row in this fixture. That followed a run of three straight Seagulls victories, with Irons fans last celebrating a win against the south coast outfit back in 2012.

That was a resounding 6-0 victory when these two clubs were both down in the Championship together, with another game between them which produces over 5.5 goals this weekend priced at 14/1. A draw, meanwhile, is available at 27/11, with the score draw coming in at 7/2

The home team, however, are the favourites in this West Ham v Brighton preview. Irons fans have mainly watched from afar as their team has shown significant improvement under David Moyes – even if they went down 3-0 to London rivals Chelsea last time out.

That came on the back of a run of only one defeat in six for the Hammers, which came against another Big Six side, Manchester United. Before that sequence, West Ham’s only defeat in five was against champions Liverpool, with Moyes guiding his team to draws against Manchester City and Tottenham during that spell – as well as victories over Leicester City and Wolves.

Having also beaten an impressive Leeds United outfit this month, it should come as no surprise that West Ham are the 19/13 favourites for the win here. That said, the odds probably seem a little favourable towards Brighton.

The Seagulls are 27/11, despite only winning two of their opening 14 matches. Graham Potter’s side needed a late Danny Welbeck equaliser to rescue a point against the 10 men of winless Sheffield United last time out, and haven’t tasted victory since November.

Indeed, with only one win in their last 12 Premier League fixtures, the away win looks like one to avoid here. Brighton have drawn half of those games though, with the stalemate potentially the best the Seagulls can hope for in this festive fixture.

One to watch for West Ham: Sebastien Haller is finally starting to look like a proper striker, while his ability to produce acrobatic highlight-reel moments like the overhead he scored against Crystal Palace marks him out as one to watch. He is 23/4 to break the deadlock on Sunday afternoon.

One to watch for Brighton: If he can stay fit, Danny Welbeck will play a significant role in Brighton’s survival bid. The former Manchester United forward is a real handful on his day, and is priced at 15/2 for the first goal in these West Ham v Brighton predictions.

Long shot: Four of the last five meetings between these teams have seen both teams score, with the same outcome here 10/13. West Ham look more than capable of ending their winless run against Brighton, and after scoring three times against the Seagulls last time, are 19/1 to win 3-1 here. With Haller scoring first, those odds rise to 135/1
