One round down in the Copa America group stages, and things are certainly hotting up. We’ve had shocks that really liven up each section, while some of the favourites have been flexing their muscles. Will the dominance of the likes of hosts Brazil and Uruguay continue as we look at the best both teams to score bets in the Copa America this week?
Starting with tournament favourites Brazil, the Selecao responded to some half-time boos to put three goals past Bolivia in a much improved second period. Next up for Tite’s side is Venezuela, who played out a goalless draw with Peru in their Group A opener. We’re backing Brazil to shut out the Venezuelans too in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with this game 1/2 to not see both teams score. The Selecao are 8/13 to win to nil.
Bolivia and Peru square off in the other game in the section, and meetings between the countries in recent years have usually yielded goals. Four of their last five fixtures have seen both teams score, with Peru knocking in three themselves in the only game that didn’t. You can back BTTS in this week’s game at 6/5.
Argentina failed to fire in their opener against Colombia, with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and co drawing a blank in their surprise 2-0 defeat. La Albiceleste have Paraguay next, which has also been a high-scoring affair in recent times. There’s only been one goal in the last two meetings between the sides, but five matches in a row before that saw both teams score, with scorelines of 6-1, 2-2, 5-2, 3-1 and 4-2. BTTS is 11/10 for this fixture.
Argentina’s vanquishers, Colombia, are up against Qatar late on Wednesday night, who recovered from going two goals down against Paraguay to claim a 2-2 draw. The Middle Eastern side have only failed to score once in their last 10 fixtures, which was a friendly against Brazil in their final Copa America warm-up fixture. Qatar have plenty of spirit and tenacity, and we like BTTS in this game at 13/10.
We also like BTTS in Ecuador vs Chile, which has seen over 2.5 goals in five of the last six meetings. The other game saw two, while the teams are relatively evenly matched after winning three of those six apiece. Both teams to score in this game is evens, but we’re going against BTTS in the other Group C fixture.
Uruguay have a mean defence and will concede few chances to Japan. La Celeste swatted Ecuador aside 4-0 in their opening match, and we’re tipping against BTTS once again at 4/7. If you’re liking our Copa America predictions for this week’s games, you could try a six-fold accumulator with all of our BTTS together, which gives you odds of 43/1.
