We’re down to the last four at the 2019 Copa America, and we’ve got two great semi-finals to look forward to. One featuring the host nation taking on their bitterest rivals, and the other a team looking for a historic third successive title.
Argentina saw off Venezuela 2-0 in the quarters to set up their clash with arch rivals Brazil, who needed penalties after a goalless draw with Paraguay. In fact, La Albiceleste’s goals were the only two in all four of the quarter-final matches. The pressure’s firmly on and that seems to have stunted the creativity of most teams left in the tournament. A number of poor pitches haven’t helped in that respect either.
There’ll be plenty of attacking talent on show in Belo Horizonte this week, but with so much at stake between these great rivals, we’re backing against both teams to score as Brazil take on Argentina. That’s priced at 4/5, and would’ve paid out in each of the last three meetings between the countries. It would also mirror plenty of other huge matches at this stage of a major international competition – the last two Copa America finals have finished goalless, for example, and this fixture feels as big as a final.
Argentina were involved in both of those, losing on penalties each time to Chile. La Roja are aiming for a hat-trick of Copa America titles as they take on Peru on Wednesday. Both teams converted all of their penalties in their shootout victories, although neither side could break the deadlock in 90 minutes.
Los Incas have failed to score in three of their four matches so far, only managing to hit the back of the net against Bolivia, who were the only team to finish the group stages without a point. Chile meanwhile have drawn a blank in each of their last two matches, against Uruguay and Colombia.
Peru and Chile have only met once in the last two and a half years, and that encounter didn’t see both teams score. The same again this week is 18/25, while you can combine our two both teams to score bets into a two-fold for odds of 2/1.
