After an action-packed campaign that’s produced some fabulous football since August, Serie A enjoys its season-ending swan song this weekend. Juventus have already lifted the scudetto, but there are European places up for grabs this weekend, as well as survival in the Italian top flight. With a lot to play for, we’re taking a look at the best over/under goals bets in Serie A this weekend.
First up we’re heading to the Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, where Atalanta are looking to secure an unlikely place in next season’s Champions League with a win against Sassuolo. La Dea battered the Neroverdi 6-2 earlier this term, and with their spot in the top four at stake, the goals could fly in once again this weekend. We’re backing over 3.5 goals in this game at 21/20.
Inter are in the driving seat to finish fourth, as they take a one-point advantage over city rivals Milan into the final day of the season. The Nerazzurri are at home to a relegation-threatened Empoli on Sunday, who know that a defeat will them drop down to Serie B if Genoa pick up a point at struggling Fiorentina. Inter thrashed Emploi 4-3 at the San Siro on the final day of the 2014/15 season, and both teams will be going all out again here. We fancy over 3.5 goals once more at 7/5.
That Fiorentina against Genoa game is a tough one to call. Two of the last four games between the teams have ended goalless, but the other two matches in that run saw five and six goals. Although La Viola are struggling badly for form after a run of 15 games without a win in all competitions, they haven’t been conceding too many goals this season. Vincenzo Montella’s side have the joint seventh best defensive record despite slipping to 15th in the table. Genoa have to go for it this weekend though, so we’re backing over 2.5 goals at 6/5.
Another team that have to go for it are Milan, as only a win will do for them if they’re going to overhaul Inter. Luciano Spalletti’s side have that one-point lead over the Rossoneri heading into the weekend, and won both Milan derbies this season. If Gennaro Gattuso’s Milan fail to beat SPAL away then they definitely won’t be in the top four or Champions League. The Rossoneri won 2-1 at the San Siro earlier this season and 4-0 at the Stadio Paolo Mazza last term, while SPAL’s last seven matches have seen over 2.5 goals. The same again here is 16/25.
Finally to champions Juventus, who finish their season with a trip to Sampdoria. There’s little to play for at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with the Blucerchiati guaranteed to finish ninth and Juve having already enjoyed their title celebrations last weekend. This is a fixture that’s produced goals in recent seasons, 25 in the last seven meetings between the sides. However, there’s a good chance this game will be a tame affair, with under 2.5 goals available at 8/5. If you’re feeling lucky, you can combine our five picks here in an accumulator for odds of 45/1.
