Juventus have made a blistering start to the Serie A season, but you may have been waiting until now to put your money where your mouth is calling who’s going to be crowned the Italian champions. Or, you may be after some value if you think the Old Lady are going to blow it from their position of superiority.
Last time: Napoli pushed Juve all the way last season, but the Bianconeri eventually won the league by four points, to make it seven Serie A titles in a row.
Best odds to win Serie A Predictions and Preview
There’s no question who the clear favourites are. Juventus are still unbeaten after 15 games, as they head to Torino on Saturday night. The Bianconeri have an eight-point lead at the top of the table, after winning 14 of their opening 15 Serie A fixtures.
The Old Lady are the odds-on favourites with the bookmakers, priced at 1/12. As there’s hardly any value in Max Allegri’s side at this point, it could be worth taking a look at the teams who may be able to push them this term.
In truth, there’s only one. Napoli closed the gap last season towards the end of the campaign and they came agonisingly close to unseating their Turin rivals. Maurizio Sarri may have departed, but the Gli Azzurri moved to install Carlo Ancelotti so they certainly have an experienced manager at the helm.
Whether that’s going to make much difference remains to be seen, as Juve could be out of sight before the winter break if Cristiano Ronaldo and co continue to make such light work of their opponents.
However, Napoli have the ability to stay in touch with the Bianconeri, and wait for opportunities to bridge the gap. They also still have a home game to come against Juve, after losing 3-1 at the Allianz Stadium in September.
Now would appear to be the time to get on Napoli, who are 8/1 to claim their first Serie A crown since Diego Maradona was at the club. If they close the gap, those odds are only going to shorten, while if Juve get much further ahead there’ll be little point in backing anyone else.
Inter Milan are the best of the rest at present, but another six points back from Napoli. Even at odds of 60/1, betting on the Nerazzurri feels like throwing your money away.
Long shot: AC Milan are three points adrift of their local rivals Inter, but you may be tempted to throw a euro or two on them at 200/1 to win the league.
