With the transfer rumour mill approaching overdrive, young Germany international Timo Werner could be the big mover in the January window. The RB Leipzig attacker has 11 strikes from 17 appearances, a haul only bettered by Luka Jovic and Paco Alcácer who have found the net once more.
Werner has attracted the interest of Serie A clubs Milan and Juventus as the Rossoneri desperately search for a solution to their goalscoring woes. Gonzalo Higuain is currently enduring a barren run and it is widely recognised the ex-Napoli hitman is not enjoying his time with the Italian giants.
It has been a difficult year for the Argentine, who was controversially ushered out of the door after just two seasons at Juventus following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and there is a genuine possibility he could move to Chelsea before the January window closes. As a result, Gennaro Gattuso will be needing a new striker and Werner is 13/1 to be playing his football in Italy during the second-half of the campaign.
Meanwhile, there is increased speculation coming from England, with Jurgen Klopp a long time admirer of his compatriot. With the Reds leading the way in the Premier League, the former Borussia Dortmund boss may ask the powers that be to spend whatever it takes to ensure Liverpool have yet another dazzling attacker in the ranks, particularly if rival Pep Guardiola spends heavily to tilt his the championship race back in the holders’ favour.
Werner is 11/1 to join the Merseysiders and is much in the same mould as current first choice forward Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian of course plied his trade in Germany with Hoffenheim, performing predominantly in a no.10 role but has seamlessly transitioned in to a fully fledged centre-forward under Klopp. Much like Firmino, Werner has the ability and versatility to play a variety of forward roles and it is easy to see why Klopp would want to snap up the Bulls fan favourite.
