It’s not exactly panic stations just yet for Bayern Munich, but the pressure is certainly mounting on new manager Niko Kovac. The Bavarians have failed to win any of their last four games, but they have an excellent record against Wolfsburg in recent seasons.

Last time: Wolfsburg took an early lead when the teams met at the Volkswagen Arena back in February, but an injury-time penalty from Robert Lewandowski sealed the comeback for Bayern as the visitors won 2-1.

Wolfsburg v Bayern Munich Predictions and Preview

Don’t adjust your screen – Bayern Munich come into this game sitting in sixth place in the Bundesliga table. They are four points behind unbeaten leaders Borussia Dortmund, having lost their last two league matches.

It’s rare that the Bayern board’s patience is tested, but it certainly will be if the champions slump to their third successive defeat in the Bundesliga. Die Roten are playing without confidence at the moment, and criticism is coming in from all angles, including from former players.

Despite their sticky patch, Bayern are still the heavy favourites in the betting, priced at 19/50. This is helped in no small part by their record against Wolfsburg. Der FCB have won seven of their last eight games against their hosts on Saturday, outscoring Die Wolfe by 26 goals to five in that period.

Wolfsburg may be ideal opposition for Bayern to get back to winning ways then. However, Die Wolfe got a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena last season, showing they can compete with the champions. The hosts are 8/1 for the win here, which would be their first Bundesliga victory over Bayern since a 4-1 success in January 2015.

Bruno Labbadia will have to do without Josuha Guilavogui as he tries to lay the misery on his opposite number Kovac. Ignacio Camacho, Jeffrey Bruma, Felix Klaus and Ismail Azzaoui are all doubts too, although Admir Mehmedi is back in training after a calf injury.

Bayern could welcome David Alaba back into the starting XI after a hamstring problem, while Rafinha has also been back out on the training pitches. Jerome Boateng and Leon Goretzka are doubts though, while Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman have been ruled out. Considering some of those injury concerns, a draw could be on the cards, and it’s priced at 87/20.

One to watch for Wolfsburg: No player has scored more goals for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga this season than Renato Steffen. The Swiss international has two goals to his name, and could be great value at 25/1 for the first goal on Saturday.

One to watch for Bayern: Bayern need their big players to step up in this difficult period, and Robert Lewandowski certainly fits into that category. The Polish striker has three goals so far this term, and is 5/2 to add to that with the opener in this one.

Long shot: Wolfsburg’s last victory over Bayern was a resounding one. The visitors are low on confidence right now, and there’s a chance they could crumble if Die Wolfe make a fast start. With that in mind, Bruno Labbadia’s side are 350/1 to beat Bayern 4-1 again.
