Wolves vs. Tottenham Premier League Betting Tips and Preview

Jose Mourinho takes his Tottenham Hotspur side to the West Midlands the day after Boxing Day, to play against fellow Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves. Spurs have stuttered in recent weeks and fallen from their perch atop the Premier League table, but there’s good news to be found for the visitors in the form of the recent meetings between these sides.

Last time: Tottenham took a 2-1 lead into the half-time break when these clubs last met in March, but Wolves came back strong in the second period to take a 3-2 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Wolves v Tottenham Predictions and Preview

Although Wolverhampton Wanderers have won two of their last three matches against Tottenham Hotspur, the visitors this weekend will take some heart from the fact that this fixture hasn’t seen a home win since 2010.

Five away victories and two draws have followed since, while Wolves cannot call on their two second-half goalscorers the last time these teams met in this match. Diogo Jota moved to Liverpool in the summer, while Raul Jimenez continues his spell on the sidelines following his sickening head injury at the end of November.

The Mexican is a huge miss for the Wanderers, who’ve lost three of their four games since Jimenez fractured his skull. That includes a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Burnley last time out, as well as a 1-0 loss to West Midlands rivals Aston Villa earlier this month.

That run has seen Nuno’s side drop into the bottom half of the Premier League table. However, the top half is very congested, and a couple of wins would likely see Wolves right back in the reckoning for the European places.

Tottenham had started to dream of much more than mere European qualification following their strong start to the season. However, Mourinho’s team have only won one of their last five Premier League fixtures, albeit in the north London derby against Arsenal.

Spurs have lost back-to-back games against title rivals Liverpool and Leicester City coming into this fixture, while their preparations for Sunday’s clash are hampered by Wednesday’s League Cup tie against Stoke City.

Despite that, Spurs are the 6/5 favourites in this Wolves v Tottenham preview with William Hill. That would maintain the run of away victories in this fixture, with Wolves priced at 14/5 to put a stop to that particular sequence. A draw would at least keep the lack of recent home wins intact, and that’s available at 12/5

One to watch for Wolves: Pedro Neto may struggle to keep his balance sometimes, but the Portuguese attacker certainly knows where the goal is. He has scored three times in his last six Premier League appearances, and is 9/1 to break the deadlock in this one.

One to watch for Tottenham: Son Heung-min has also bagged three in his last six league games, with the South Korean boasting 11 goals in 14 appearances so far this term. He is 5/1 to open the scoring in these Wolves v Tottenham predictions.

Long shot: Each of the last four meetings between these clubs have seen an away win with both teams scoring, with the victor netting exactly three goals on three occasions. Tottenham to win and BTTS here is 16/5, while the visitors are 40/1 to win 3-2. With Son scoring first, those odds increase to a monstrous 251/1
